all of that sounds great. because the book is the quran. whoever told you it is bad to burn books meant when the government does it to keep people from reading them. i think thats the point of most protests, dude. sure, i would like that. and also we could have a guy there pulling crosses and crescents and stars of david off public property.

Their defense of the lie could have been epic.. They were exercising their 1st amendment right with regard to exercising their 1st amendment right. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the media didn't say a word about it, either.. But if Muslims were burning bibles up the street from there than I'd say it's their right to do so as well, but stupid nonetheless. It would really be something someday, if people would just realize how silly they look in general sometimes..
So, some self-proclaimed holy man decides to burn someone else's holy book. How stupid can you get? It will do nothing that he wants (except generate "offerings" for himself). Muslims will not be intimidated, only incensed. And what will they do? They will burn Bibles! And Christians will not be intimidated either. It's an exercise in stupidity and uselessness and a waste of literature. Terrorists will not be cowed by this Nazi-style bullchit. General Petreaus has stated that it will create dangers for US troops abroad who have to work with and fight with muslims every day. This foolish excuse for a preacher ought to have his ass kicked.
This guy is a Fred Phelps wanna-be. I hear he has about 30 members in his church so it's not likely to be a big bonfire. What he is doing is, to quote Jackie Chiles, "outrageous, egregious, preposterous". It serves no purpose but to give terrorists bulletin board material. Thankfully, according to the church's website, other Gainesville Christian churches have condemned his actions as have churches around the country and globe- something you won't see in the Muslim world. And I doubt there will be a run on Bible burning in muslim countries since they already burn Bibles and behead Christians.
why is a concern if it causes US troops harm? isnt the point of america to create an atmosphere where any form of protest is allowed, if not encouraged? regardless of which lunatics is will anger? and even if those lunatics attack? if the lunatics do attack, it is still 100% the fault of the lunatics, not the koran burning people. the koran burners were being good citizens by exercising their right to free speech.
Just as having a mosque near Ground Zero is in poor taste, yet legal, this is also in extremely poor taste, yet legal. 9/11 should be a day when you remember those who served, are serving, and who lost their lives in a tragedy. 9/11 should mean the same for Muslims and Christians in America. They should all show respect and put down their differences for that 1 day a year to honor the bravery of those who thought it was better to give their lives to save others.
I did not read the whole thread, but I like what the leader of that church said today. You can burn our bibles, and our flags, and it is ok!!! Here is what I would do. You have the publicity, so have all of the news media there, take all of the Qurans and ask if anyone wants one, then pass them out. Then ask if anyone wants a Bible. Pass it out. Put it all on tape, with a big screen in the background showing how all the freaking other people in the world are burning our flag. Make sure Holder and Obama are there to get their copy of a free Quran. And since I cant even spell it right, I am sure I have a price on my head already.

i'm not saying they can't, i'm just saying it's naziesque to burn books, from green eggs and ham to the quran. maybe muslims would be more tolerant if they read the bible and vice versa. who knows. Let em do it, but they better be prepared for farooq to come into their church wearing the new fall line of hugo bomb. oh and yes swerved i have torn blank pages out of the bible before, but they were blank. and they may have gotten burned, i plead the fif.
