Maybe in your mind, I don't support paul because he is a fruit loop. I don't agree with his policies, his political views, his whacked out 911 theories that he adopted from Alex Jones, his weak "lets be nice to everyone" defense plan or anything else that I've heard from him to date. So it's not that I don't want to "waste" my vote, or that I'm happy with the status quo, or the lesser of two evils. Do I really like Romney or Mccain, no, but after doing the research and weighing it all out, I'll take either of them over any of the others.

Of course, the fact that the company was the only one qualified and with the resources to do the job had absolutely nothing to do with their getting the bid. It's so much better to assume that Cheney wanted the VP position to jack up Halliburton's profits. It's also more fun to picture Bush working late into the night, not in the country's interests, but rather to fatten Cheney's pockets. Some of you people are really gullible idiots.:dis:

Oh yeah. About Ron Paul, he has a following because Manson is in prison.

And I'm pretty sure it was KBR that Cheney had his hooks into, I don't think he has anything to do with Haliburton. The point still remains, they get those contracts because of the global presence that they (haliburton) have, and for the ability to provide the services to the Gvt (KBR). When another company comes around that can offer support in all classes of supply and roll it up into one package I'm sure we will have quite the bidding war. Unitl then, KBR is going to get the contract regardless of who is in the white house.

Voting for the status quo isn't changing anything. As LA residents you should atleast know that much. RP is only the head of the snake. The more important part is his message and the message that he represents.

The country has fallen from it's conservative Republican roots and there are alot of people that are worried, including myself, of the bankrupty for instance of this country.

Debt has increased by what $4 trillion over the last 8 years and now foreigners own 46% of our debt and are buying up American businesses with ease because of the weak dollar.

If that is the America you want to live in then so be it. It's not the one I want to live in. The other 3 candidate in the Republican field will do nothing to change this problem and will only bring us further into debt and dollar weakness. IMO

What bid? No other bidder was allowed to even present their qualifications. Haliburton was given the contract outright. If Haliburton was the best and the only qualified company, then they would have won a competitive bid and the US would have gotten a better price that what Haliburton raped us for. In fact they were not the only company qualfied. Moreover, they did not need or warrant an exclusive contract where they could just name their price.

There were mutiple contractors that could have been used to keep prices competitive and to enable the US to get rid of underperformers. That's the way we always did it in other oversea's wars. The difference in this war was Cheney. This deal was the ultimate in hubris and in conflict of interest and should have been bid because of Cheney's position if for no other reason.

Ahem. Halliburton did not divest itself of ties with KBR until April, 2007, It had been the contracting, engineering and construction unit of Haliburton. for 44 years. Cheney was chairman and chief executive officer of Halliburton from 1995 to 2000 when KBR was a wholly-owned subsidiary.
