QB is not the "core" problem. We knew going into the season that the running game and defense were going to have to step up while our QB's get their experience. If you don't mind Lee throwing INT's then you shouldn't "mind" him throwing behind WR's because guess what? That's part of the learning process. This is only his 2nd start EVER. Again, even after this game, his stats are better than where Tebow's and Staffords stats were their first season starting. How can you ask for more than that from a young QB? Heck, Colt McCoy looked like crap his first year and look at him tear it up this year. I actually have plenty of hope at the QB position. You can see Lee has the ability, he shows glimmers of amazing plays in every game. It's just a matter of getting everything clicking. Our QB position isn't the problem. The problem is our O-Line was suppose to be amazing, they're full of experience and they're bigger than almost any other line. Florida's D-Line was smaller and younger. . .why weren't we knocking them off the block? That was a major problem. Our D-Line was suppose to be bigger and more experienced than a young Florida O-Line. How come we weren't knocking them off the block? We were suppose to be more physical, and we just didn't bring it. At all. Why was McCray covering Percy Harvin? That tells you they were treating Harvin as a running back instead of a slot WR. Why was Florida picking up our Blitzes so well? If they announcers and the fans know a blitz is coming, that tells me there's something wrong with how we're lining up. No. QB play was not the problem. Our lack of fire and our mis-game management are the issues right now. Maybe that's why RJF made the comments he did. Maybe he could see the team wasn't fired up enough and he was trying to get them going.
Sure, QB play isnt great but its adequate enought to win. The big problem is horrible DC coaching. Not making adjustments or blitzes. Not having the right guys in there in the right positions. As well as the line play. There was no fire in them at all. They were pushed around like little kids. Also, the tackling was pathetic. Its been a long time since I remember LSU looking that poor in tackling. The angles were horrible as well. I know UF is very fast, but LSU played slow.
I am with you!!! As long as Miles insists on going with Hatch and Lee we will go nowhere this season! This was the perfect game to put Jordan Jefferson in, give him some game experience and see what he could do. He certainly could not have done any worse than what we saw! From all the hype we have heard about him, it's about time we saw if he can live up to it and maybe, just maybe we will actually have a real quarterback for the rest of the season! We sure don't have one now. This game was out of reach when UF scored their 1st td of the 3rd quarter, and there is NO REASON JJ should not have played after that. I also agree that thee was absolutely no defensive plan here. The coaches had 2 weeks to come up with something to stop Florida, and if that was the best they could do, maybe we need a change there also!
Thanks for the well formed opinion. I could not imagine how our forum would have survived without you creating an account and posting this. I hang my head and I'm ashamed that I didn't show as much blatent bandwagonism as you. I hope your knees aren't skinned from falling off the wagon so fast.
Psssst. In case you didn't notice, we are still the 14th best team in the country. The coaches are at every practice, they see J-Lee, Hatch and JJ on a regular basis. I trust that they know who to play. Why wouldn't they put the best player at quarterback in the game?
