Crip, to address your concerns over the first 3 possessions, I put that all on Crowton not being aggressive in the play calling when Florida showed their hand with 8 in the box. It was one of my 5 keys to the game. I knew Florida would come to stop Scott, and it would be on us as to whether we would take advantage of a potentially vulnerable defensive backfield. Unfortunately he waited an entire half to open up the playbook. It wasn't Lee's fault.
I agree and thats what I have a problem with. They should have streched the field early and take what the defense was giving. That would have opened up the run. If you throw a pick so be it but at least make it a long pass so its on the other end of the field.
So far Lee has been what many accused JR of, nothing but a good arm with nothing between the ears. His decision making is awful at times and he is so sporatic with his streaky play that you have no clue what you are going to get when he throws the football. However, I think he is our best option to win an SEC ballgame, unfortunately he has shown the ability to just as easily lose the game for us. He didn't get any help from his OC, or Oline Saturday night, but I don't think it would have mattered, he was just off from the word go. After saying all of that, he isn't by far the worst problem we have. The Two headed DC is a straight Fail. They don't have a clue, didn't make any adjustments, and have shown no ability to be able to do so. At least Lee has shown sparks of hope.
Short comment: I have faith in Lee Let him learn and grow, and give him some slack! HE IS ONLY A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN.
Lee is streaky because his emotions are not in check. (RSFR) To start the game, he was 0-5. Next 12 passes? 11-12. Then, as has been mentioned, the wind was taken from the sails...and it was over. I am on a laptop with an aircard, or I would do this myself...but I'd love for someone to pull up some stats of past LSU QBs and put this thing to bed. I will have to go off memory, but I believe Matt Flynn...less than a year ago...had many of the same problems. In fact, the 3 first half int's against Bama didn't do the team any favors. HOWEVER!!! The defense bailed him out eventually. Last night, that didn't come close to happening. If you can't see this, I don't know what else to say. Crip, I love ya' man...but I disagree with you wholeheartedly on this one.
I couldn't wait... Some Flynn stats from last season...you know, THAT season.:crystal: Opponent Comp/Att TD INT Percentage USCe 8-19 1 1 42.1 UF 14-27 1 1 51.9 Ky 17-35 1 1 48.6 Bama 24-44 3 3 54.5 LA Tech 14-26 3 2 53.8 Arky 22-47 0 3 46.8 Now, someone do the same with JR, Randall, STAFFORD, SJPWilson, etc...:thumb:
You're dead on, Fishy. Lee is doing better than I could have hoped considering he's only really started two games and that was a buzz saw he walked into. The one thing I sorta hate about the Hatch package, so to speak, is the predictability of the read-option. Hatch suddenlly isn't throwing much, which means he's predictable. Me no likey.
I don't normally like talking about a man's "package", but I actually don't mind the "Hatch package". It is effective, and he's good at it. However, neither he nor JJ need to be the starting quarterback at LSU.
