When you have Byrd on a 10 yard slant and Byrd turns completely around to TRY and make the catch and the ball is at his finger tips, thats horrible!

When you have Lafell WIDE ASS OPEN with the closest Fl defender 5 yards away and he has to jump 5 feet in the air to make a catch that should have hit him on the run, thats horrible!

And this is just 2, I'm not saying all his passes since the Auburn game have been bad but 80% are!

And I dont buy the inexperience. He is a QB he should be able to hit MOVING targets!

If the route is messed up (which has happened) or He stares down his target (which he does) or Throws INTs (which he has) THOSE I chauk up to being inexperienced!

Playing CATCH with wide open WRs is something that should come natural to a QB, but of course it is always the WRs fault for not catching the crappy passes, never the QBs fault!

He is a QB the throwing passes to wideouts learning process should be completed in High School.

you know it's more complicated than that or teams with freshman qb's would be heading to championships all the time. it doesn't happen alot.

    he needs time.

while you guys discuss this, i'm gonna go pull Jarrett Lee out from under the bus before he hurts his arm or his ankle or whatnot.

oh yeah, and the defense being on the field way too much was only in the first quarter. 2nd & 3rd quarter our O was on the field more, and 4th quarter too (but only by about half a minute). so that wasn't really the problem with the D.

    Possession Time LSU - 27:40 FL - 32:20
    1st Quarter LSU - 3:31 FL - 11:29
    2nd Quarter LSU - 8:12 FL - 6:48
    3rd Quarter LSU - 8:21 FL - 6:39
    4th Quarter LSU - 7:36 FL - 7:24

it seems to me that the D was the biggest problem. if there wasn't a problem with the D, even a totally on their game O should not be able to put 50 points on us. problems that stand out to me were: single coverage on Harvin, UF's biggest pass playmaker; not breaking off tackles to stop the run; and not getting to Tebow enough (there was at least twice, one of which was Chad Jones, where an LSU player was 3 feet from Tebow; and instead of hitting him, the LSU player waited for him to loose the ball - not agressive enough).

also, our O-line could not open it up for our run game. i have no idea what the problem there was. anyone with insight on that?

yes, Lee has some aim issues, but he is young and these will be resolved in time, most likely before the end of the season. but it doesn't matter whether he's on target or not if we can't stop the other team from scoring. he can make a touchdown pass every drive, and it won't help a cent if the other team answers with a score every time. what is it they say? defense wins championships? that's because you have to keep the other team from scoring. you can win a game with a safety if your D doesn't let the other team score any points.

anyway, it was a tough loss - emotionally. but in the big picture of the season, taking into consideration what we expected before the season started, our QB situation, and the fact that we play in the SEC, it's not a season killing loss. the boys will step up and work harder and we will see improvement over the coming weeks. it's the nature of the game.

    GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

(Note to Jarrett Lee - are you okay, man? these fans didn't really mean to throw you under the bus. sometimes football fans have high expectations and when you don't live up to them, they blame you even if you're the one out there practicing every day and playing your @$$ and your heart out on Saturday night. you'll see, buddy. you just keep working hard, and all that TIGER FAN LOVE will be yours for the taking. i promise.)

And I know it is more complicated then just that, but some of his passes are so bad, it makes you wonder.

I don't think his percentage of "off passes" is anywhere near 80.

His passes aren't perfect, I readily admit that, but he is NOWHERE near as innaccurate as you're making him sound.

Those passes last night were the exact same type of passes that Reed, Clayton, Devery, Bowe, Early, and Buster CAUGHT from Rohan, Mauck, JR, and Flynn. If it hits the guy in BOTH hands, whether in front, behind, up, or low, the receiver MUST bring those in. That is why these guys are taught to catch with their hands and not with their bodies.
Could they have been placed better? Definitely. You won't hear me argue against that.
Should they have been caught. Hell YES.

Just like the pass from Flynn that bounced off of Zinger's hands i the Endzone at Kentucky last year. Not a perfect throw, but dammit, you MUST catch that pass, NO EXCUSES. The QBs job is to put the ball where his recievers CAN catch it.

There were also several passes that were where they needed to be that were dropped as well. To put this one on Lee is ignoring the bigger problems facing this team right now.

Crip, man...I've followed your posts since before the season and I almost always agree with your POV's, but expecting a RS Frosh to perform like Drew Brees in his first road start in the SEC is a bit out of sorts.

Really, truly, assuredly...there is MUCH more to complain about when it comes to LSU's performance last night so why stop with the QB?

Why not call for more Keiland since CS was ineffective?

Why not call for more Jones over McCray since McCray gave up the long TD pass?

For that matter, why not call for the backup lineman (both O and D) since we were getting manhandled on the lines of scrimmage?

If all of that sounds ridiculous to you, then you understand why we're all questioning your proclivity toward replacing the ONLY thing that was actually halfway working for us last night.

    In comparison:
Last year Flynn was 14 -28 with one interception and we scored 24 pts.
In the Swamp JR was 24-41 with three interceptions and we scored 10 points.
Both those guys were veteran quarterbacks.
IMO, Lee didn't play great but he played well enough to give us a chance to win if the D and the running game had been as productive as expected.

Agreed. With even an average "typical" LSU defense, we would have been in a position to scrape out a win. You can't play from behind and work your gameplan.
