When they showed the replay, it was the SC safety who manage to pull on Byrd's right arm when the ball arrived in his hands, causing the incompletion. It was a good play on SC's part, not Byrd's fault as it first seemed. I think Lee gained a bit more experience tonight in a hostile field, and grew a little. It was good practice against a good defense, and any critical mistake helps him learn. Again the silver lining is that despite the interception, he wasn't mentally shaken up, and continued to be unafraid of throwing the long ball, which finally counted when needed.
You mean the one that came AFTER halftime...which would have been AFTER I made the post, which I stated inside the post! He did make some very tough throws that were very good that our WRs should have come down with. Lee is extremely inconsitent from one play to the very next one. Hatch was a godsend in the 2nd half he was able to come in and take charge of the offense and it was good to see him throw the ball 5 yards to Dickson and it not be a dying duck!
That's why you shouldn't post that crap when there's a half of football to be played.:yelwink2: Agree. That said, let me make this clear. I'm not gonna argue about whether Byrd should or shouldn't have caught the ball. Bottom line though...it could NOT have been a better thrown ball. Last year against AU with the game on the line, he made a more difficult catch.
Agree, he is inconsistent. I think he throws the deep ball better than the intermediate routes. I agree with the Brett Favre comparisons. Dude is not afraid to sling it through a wall if necessary. This confidence is a good thing. Also, much like Favre early in his career, he has a tendancy to overthrow it, causing the ball to sail up and out on him.
what was the excuse when he hit LaFell in stride 2 times and Byrd one time on flies? LSU's receivers can't get YAC if they drop all the passes that are in the open field. I could count 5-6 drops tonight. That's a low-ball estimate.
Maybe so, but Garcia looked a LOT more composed, more nimble in the pocket, and was far more impressive, especially in the first half. He was actually surveying the field and looking for open receivers, whereas Lee was telegraphing everything... again. Nice stats, but watching the game was a different story. Besides, Garcia had more yards passing with fewer completions (not to mention several nifty runs), and actually had a TD. You conveniently left that out. :thumb: Apparently, he drinks a lot more than Lee as well. :hihi:
he couldn't have been THAT composed out there. His team only had 40 total yards offense in the 2nd half when the chips were on the table.
I said "more composed" and "especially in the first half" in contrast to Lee. Lee looked terrible in both, save for a couple of good passes. He looks like the old Eli Manning out there... I dunno. Just zoned out.
Actually, I wasn't trying to paint Lee in a BETTER light than Garcia. Just saying, the stats wound up being about equal. By the way, for his "nifty runs", they totalled less than 20 yards. And as Clairice stated...42 total yds in the second half...NEGATIVE yardage with the game on the line in the 4th quarter. I'm not impressed.
