I know during the recruiting process coaches are not allowed to mention a recruit by name. Is the rule the same for transfers? Could Les Miles publicly state that we are(n't) going to offer Zach Mettenberger
the real reason he was dismissed is that he lied to richt. so not only did he just make a mistake (im being nice) but he also was stupid to think richt wouldnt find out the truth and he's a liar. no thanks.
I agree, and public perception would be negative off the deep end, we don't need that distraction. I'm sure there's someone out there with far less baggage.
I'm sure Miles and company will do their due diligence on this kid and that might be reason he hasn't been offered yet. FWIW, he plead guilty to two counts of sexual battery: Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Zach Mettenberger pleads guilty to sexual battery - ESPN Here is the statement he released following the plea: "Today I took full responsibility for my actions and entered a plea to two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery for the incident that occurred in Remerton, Georgia on March 7. I first want to apologize to the young lady my actions most directly affected and I hope that by me accepting responsibility for my actions that she can move on with her life. "I would also like to apologize to my family, friends, teammates, the coaching staff, and the University of Georgia. Though it was very uncharacteristic of me to act the way I did I still accept full responsibility for this event. I deeply regret my actions of that night and can assure that these actions will never happen again. I intend to do everything in my power to restore my image and rebuild the trust people had in me before." From what I've read about him especially his performance in Jawja's spring game, appears he can play QB in the SEC. We'll all have to stay tuned on this one.
I don't want this guy playing for us. I have zero respect for guys that do things like this. Now unless there's something missing from the story, like if the girl was provoking it and then changed her mind about it later, this type of behavior is not something I want associated with the football team, regardless of how bad we need QBs. Not only does the team seem very tightly knit and devoted this season, they seem to get along very well and seem like nice guys. This guy doesn't fit in.
What would be the chance of getting Ely? Since ZL left and with the QB depth at Bama, at one time I thought we were high on Ely's list, maybe we should give him another shot. Actually I'd be surprised if we hadn't already.
