That fake punt is the same fake punt Jasper pulled off against McNeese last year. It wasn't 'called' by anyone. It's known by the punters that...if the defense doesn't rush you, and is heading down the field with their backs to you...take off. Coaching does that. Confidence in your players does that.
After this game it is easy to see that we have 2 QBs that will see playing time. Les as the head coach has decided to run his team the way he thinks will bring the best % for victory and could care less what the Game Day crew thinks. His own fan base has a very large concern about playing JJ while JL is playing so well but I guess he is basing his decisions on what he sees on the practice field and not based on call in shows and Tiger forums. JL threw the ball against the Gators when called to do so very well and seems to have no concerns about JJ. JL seems to be as relaxed on the field as I have ever seen him. JJ does not seem to be as relaxed and I am sure the fact that his own fans enjoy to boooooo him doesn't help what is going on. But JJ performed what was asked of him well. I am going to enjoy watching the success of both QBs the rest of the year watch Game Day turn from being a negaTiger about the playing of 2 QBS to Les has been found to be right once again. I do completely agree with most that it would seem that leaving JJ on the bench would have been what I would of done but CLM doesn't seem to worry about what the most would do !!! What a great complete victory over the Gators and what a complete team we do have ! Well coached and a team that plays with so much fire ! Very few mistakes and these guys protect the ball rarely seen by any football team. They just look flat out GOOD !
that's what i was thinking. the players arent afraid to think and when opportunities arise, take them, even tho not called. the fake was beautiful. wide. open. but when i read the comments by miles that it wasnt called, and wing improved, i was pretty impressed. speaking of penalties. the illegal formation because of the, i think it was, side the guy holding the ball was on with one of the punts? i guess wing kicked with the wrong foot, since he uses both? that, while i guess technically correct, seemed absurd to me.
Wing doesn't kick off. That was Hairston (they have the same number 38). I don't like that call since we had to get one of the guys to hold the ball due to the wind. It cost us about 35 yards of field position. Oh well. That won't happen again.
