I believe Nick and Jimbo have concluded that neither of the QBs stand out and so they may as well play the one who will still have three more years of eligibility. And, they are trying to keep it very simple for him (since he can't seem to grasp much yet), while relying on defense and the running game to secure victories, "ugly" as they may be.

I have to remind you that JR did play better early in the season.
I don't know what happened to him but he has gotten worse instead of better.
Maybe the coaches are telling him not to run as much or changing some of his
    mechanics or something.

He definately doesn't look like the same player from the OSU and Miss St games.

My 2 cents for what its worth.

Btw, the offensive line didn't improve either, or gell or help the QB situation.

the only thing I can figure out is MR won't be back next year so they are trying to get JR ready for next year by playing him as much as possible and
then bringing MR in to save the day if needed.
I do think this is a wise move by Nick and Jimbo.
As much as you guys don't want to hear it, we have to work on JR for next year.

We also need some good QB insurance and offensive line with the next recruiting class. :dis:

2 games left folks, next year is pretty much here!

Russell has no confidence right now.

Earlier in the season, he didn't always know where to throw the ball, but he had some confidence in his arm to make the throw.

He still doesn't know where to throw it all the time, but now he looks scared to death to even make a throw. Looks like he is hesitating and aiming the ball instead of just letting it fly.

No sir, you are dead wrong, I've always maintained we should play the Qb that is doing the best for us. Whoever produces, I favor neither one.
I never had the mentality of the "future" maybe you should go back and re-read some posts.

I think JR had some instances where he played better, but again this is an opinion. I don't think it was all that impressive. His numbers half way through the season were even with MR. it was a dead heat. the numbers don't support that he was better, so he wasn't better. sorry brother

I have to agree with you part of it was the O line. And in part the WR may have dropped a few here and there but the "numbers" are the standard we judge all QB's by and until a better system comes along I guess we use it. I havent looked at the Qb stats lately. but early on they were tied.

On the subject of the coaches telling him NOT to run as much? I dont know exactly what you mean here. They would want his legs and head to work together when he was in trouble. period.

It was a guess on my part, not saying its so just like a for instance.
Like the coaches were changing his game somehow and he's not as comfortable.

You see this with some young QB's when coaches try and work with them to
    change something about their game.
    That is all.

could be, I hope they can influnence him some how for sure. if he becomes what he was touted to be, we will be one helluva force to be reckoned with next year. :thumb:

Dredge 'em up. You'll find that I have been a Randall defender and a proponent of playing both quarterbacks. Whoever is hot. On a night where Russell was cold, I would have liked to have seen the senior quarterback get more opportunities on his last night as a player in Tiger Stadium. He's earned it.
