Les will play both quarterbacks. We aren't very deep at QB and we need both to get experience in case one goes down for the season. The SEC is a rough league and all we have behind those two is a true freshman. Hatch still is a better runner, has more poise, and makes fewer mistakes. Lee has an arm. Les is going to need to use all of those tools this season.

Maybe you didnt see his first few snaps during the first half.
Im not saying he shouldnt play, because he should play most of the game.

    Absolutely.

I caution everyone not to get too excited by Lee yet. He's a freshman, and while he played fantastic, he's got a lot to work on. For one thing, watching the replay, he locks on to one reciever as soon as the ball is snapped.

I think he has a great future, but he's not as good as he's going to be.

Expect growing pains, and let's be patient.

Since I was talking about how great he did in the first half, I can see how this is a relevant comment.
My argument is that things aren't going to be any BETTER with Hatch at QB. Lee absolutely still has plenty of mistakes in front of him, and no reasonable person wouldn't expect that. But those are inevitable, and denying him the bulk of the playing time will only mean displacing those mistakes to perhaps a more critical time.

I guess I just don't understand the vibe that I'm catching that Hatch has somehow waited his turn and earned the job (a la Matt Flynn) when that simply isn't the case. And I don't see how Hatch puts us in a better situation to win.

His entire performance is relevant, they guy played a great game the second half. But you shouldnt dismiss his mistakes in the first half.

This was glaringly obvious. The only saving grace in that is his lightning-quick release and strong arm. He telegraphed, but when he was decisive and let it fly, the defense couldn't quite seem get to his target or the throwing lane fast enough to prevent the catch. Eventually, it will bite him again. When he learns to look off defenders, he'll be a force.

For now, I think he'll make a nice enough distraction for defenses to let Scott run wild.

We've got a complete team here, boys! (and girls! :hihi:)

i think you can book it that lee plays the entire game due to hatch's concussion. i just dont see any way he's cleared to play this weekend and les saying they're expecting hatch to be ready just verifies it.

les will always lean the opposite way of how hes going to play his hand.

well maybe JJ will get some snaps and burn his redshirt.

they did a highlight on Sportscenter live earlier on Jlee. spotlighted his 2 big throws with the first to Lafell across the middle threading 2 defenders. showed him release the ball before the route was complete and led him perfectly.

they were gushing all over the dude.

its odd seeing LSU getting love to some obscure players but those were some serious throws. showed lafell giving lee some love on the sideline after the drive as I am sure he was as shocked as us.

would be unfair to expect this kid has arrived already but I certainly wont complain if he has.

the offense looked more comfortable with hatch til hatch went down. I think that was obvious. Throwing Lee in the fire if he has that deer in headlights look again could blow up with the young kid.

thats why les and crowton will manage this very delicately and use their judgment carefully.

unless of course, hatch is out. lee will be thrust into the fire again and hopefully runs with it.

Shouldn't this read: "mistake" (singular). Sure, he missed his first few passes EVER in a hostile SEC environment against a fresh, fired-up Auburn defense, but you can't actually call those mistakes, can you?

I think considering it was Auburn AT Auburn, his performance as a whole was admirable...redshirt frosh or not. Espsecially so when you think of what it must have taken for him to dust himself off and get back on the horse. That takes a lot of mental toughness for such a young guy.

I don't know if Hatch is better than him or not, but I think that if he starts again, he'll still just be a placeholder for Lee.

When it goes back the other way for a touchdown, that puts us down 10 points, you can officially call it a mistake. Maybe its just me.
We should air on the side of caution. Lee has all the tools and a great arm. But Hatch should play because of his running ability. I dont think Hatch is better than Lee. Lee has a huge upside, he needs to get control of his nerves and jitters. That pass to Lafell, was beautiful, he had to go up and get the ball. Lees' other passes were also beautiful.
