I know. Watch any daytime talk show....it's about all they talk about. Look up statute of limitations to see the differences between states and key cases that drive legislature. Almost every day, I read about one case or another where some dad/uncle/brother has molested their children and they were taken from the home. I'm not sure how much coverage it should get....clearly it happens every day. The news doesn't report on every single crime or every single arrest and it's pretty much a daily incident. So like I said, other cases tend to get more sensational coverage because of the systematic abuse and other people covering up. I'm certain that if a parent was abusing their child and the neighbors all knew but lied to the po-po about it, it would be on the news.
Not at all. Don't change the channel. Sports, Discovery, and the History Channel are about the only things worth watching IMO.
Who in the hell cares if protestants molest more kids or Catholics do. If you are using your position to molest a kid you are a shit bag. Any one who converts up for said shit bag is a shit bag also.
I agree. It's not a defense to point one's finger at the other church in town when your own are guilty. What's stunning is to see that some of the victims grew up to become priests themselves. Some molested and some thought they were going to stop it.
There is an old saying...when you point a finger at someone there are three pointing back at you. That applies to this discussion.
I think I explained it. Organizational and systemic sexual abuse that is in effect, condoned, by others within said organization and at times, ignored by law enforcement. Parishioners in a church can feel a violation of sorts, even if it's not their child. If you have attended a parish, tithed to that parish, trusted the clergy....of course it feels like a betrayal. People put their faith in God and therefore see the clergy as a representation of divinity. More betrayal. It causes doubt and fear. Pretty much why I don't participate in organized religion.
