I don't go to the Catholic Church because of the priests. I go because of Christ who founded it. Men have flaws and always will. I condemn those flaws, but I do not let them stop me from worshipping my Lord.
You can do that without the catholic church. Look to each their own and I'm ok with that. I was born and raised catholic and defended it for most of my life. When you look through objective glasses you see clearly the hypocrisy of it all. The unwillingness to punish some very bad people, not only not punish but even worse hide them so the rest of us cannot get to them being the worst. I'm just done with them.
If I were still a church person I would prob go back to the Catholic Church strictly because of familiarity

Ok some comic relief. When My dad returned from the Korean war. He and mom a wanted to get married. So off to the church in Crowley where the bishop asked my dad if he had attended church regularly. My dad told him he was aboard a mine sweeper for the last three years. So the bishop refused to marry them . so my mom and dad got married by the jop. Well a year or so later they approached the same bishop and asked to be married in the church. That's when the bishop told my parents that were living like a bull and a cow in the pasture. At that point dad beat the shit out if the bishop. that was the end of my dads relationship with the catholic church. After I heard that story i never looked at a priest the same again.
