Peter was the first Pope. And the church was not in the Temple at the time, they worshiped together in homes. The Temple was where the Jews worshipped who did not believe in Christ.

Matthew 16:18....key word, "WILL", therefore not in existence yet. Jesus made that promise at Caesarea Philippi about one year before his death. Somewhere between Matthew and Acts, A church was built. But it wasn't until Paul's conversion that Rome became the centerpiece.

If I knew any Greek Orthodox peeps, I'd send them here. They are pretty convinced that they were the first church.

The first church was probably when Oog and Thak got together with Erk, Ugu, Ruk, Brap, Acza, and Fluz and worshipped the cave paintings of the sun god or moon god.

I'm not an atheist, far from it. I just don't participate in organized religion.

What I will concede is that the Catholic Church is the first "mega" Church. Historically, it's formation was about Constantine, not Paul or Peter....or even Jesus. Constantine was trying to prevent further destruction of Rome from the visigoths and germanic tribes so he made the Catholic Church the official Church to to unite the people, encourage their belief in God. So even in it's roots, it's always been political in nature.

Consider Alois Hudal....card carrying Nazi priest. Pius XII approved the aid to fascists escaping through Rome.

And yet, even as a non-Catholic, when JP Deuce died....I cried like a baby.

Vball don’t dismiss the pre Constantine church.. it was making serious inroads in the empire when Constantine adopted it. I’ve read that by 300 AD it had about 1/3 of the empire as believers. From an itinerant Jewish rabbi crucified as a traitor to Rome to that is pretty remarkable. Much of the structure of the church was also pre Constantine

There is no doubt his was a political move though his mother St Helena was a very devout Christian and likely influenced his actions. However the Nicene creed is as much a political document as a religious one. The story of why the council of Nicaea was called and what happened is fascinating.

Not dismissing anything. It's history after all. Constantine made the Church the official church of the Roman Empire. Voila....you have the first mega church.

More official proof that the world is ending....

Medical Website Indulges Trans Community With New Term For Female Genitalia
A health information site titled Healthline, which serves a reputed 85 million people a month, is offering an “LGBTQIA Safe Sex Guide” that stipulates the word “vagina” is no longer appropriate for that part of the female genitalia. Instead, the proper term for that orifice is . . . “front hole.”

But why, you may ask? Why is a term that has been used for ages suddenly jettisoned in favor of the term “front hole?” The LGBTQIA Safe Sex Guide writes:

For the purposes of this guide, we’ll refer to the vagina as the “front hole” instead of solely using the medical term “vagina.” This is gender-inclusive language that’s considerate of the fact that some trans people don’t identify with the labels the medical community attaches to their genitals.

As Jonathon Van Maren writes at Lifesite News:

Women who claim they are men, but are still anatomically female, feel that accurately labeling their genitals is problematic because they “don’t identify” with the medically correct terms. In other words, they accurately fear that if someone knows they have a “vagina,” those people will assume (quite safely) that they are female, when they have decided that they are not.

The term “front hole” has been bandied about for a while; last January Bustle quoted “sex educator” Kenna Cook pontificating, "Language for sex that is coded in anatomy is meant to reinforce a heteronormative, reproductive-based idea of sex … The terms people use for their sexual body parts are a large contributor to them feeling comfortable engaging in certain sex acts. Some trans men don't refer to their genitals with female-coded language, opting for 'boy hole' or 'front hole."

Just....WTF. I wonder if anyone has pointed out to these pathetic people that the vag, isn't in fact, the front hole. It's in the middle.
