I can smell Saban at work in the front (and back) offices, cheerleading, basically telling everyone with a vote what a terrible, terrible world it'll be without 'Bama somewhere in the playoff mix. I recall that the 2011 NCS was a low point in all the machinations it took to get the just-beaten-at-home Alabama back into the national spotlight. There was a lot of talk about how, psychologically, forcing a team to thrash another team twice in the same season was difficult--even prejudicial--to do (witness how flat Miles team was, the Snoozefest it became while we dithered about, trying to find the Gump side of the field for 45 minutes). Of course, this team--this Joe Burrow/EO-led team--will thrash the gumps again if required but (again, psychologically) it is not fun or fair to put them in such a position. I don't want Bama to get a do over either, but, if we were in there shoes, we would want our coach to be doing the same thing.
The way it should end up (assuming LSU, tOSU and Clemson all win out) 1. LSU 2. Ohio State 3. Clemson 4. 1 Loss PAC 12 or 1 Loss Big 12 Champ If Bama gets in at #4, they're are telling the #1 team in the country, "hey congrats, you finished #1, now go play Alabama who just had a bye week while you were slugging it out in your conference championship game"
We will play who they put in front of us in the end. And if we have to beat bama a second time, why wait another year. Lets get this streak going IMO.
Here’s the problem. Look at the loss that a one loss PAC 12 or Big 12 team will have and to who. If it’s being judged by a one best loss team and not a conference champion then Bama is definitely getting in because they loss to the #1 Team. It’s not even up to discussion. It should be you have to win your conference. The flip side to all of this is if we lose SEC championship to Ga and one of the other undefeated teams lose, we could possibly see LSU and Ga in the playoffs and Bama would be out. To squash all of this everyone needs to be an Auburn fan from here on out!!
