Way to dodge that issue, SF. Take a look at what else we could have spent that money on domestically...

Why? Did we have a need to give them 200 billion dollars and take home 20,000 casualties? What exactly do we gain?

Take that bleeding heart liberal crap elsewhere. I'm going to debate with Red.

I'll concede that that is a debatable issue. I think that we stand to gain much from having a stable democracy in the center of that hot bed. The question is how long will it take for there to be a stable democracy? I don't want to be there for 10 or 20 more years, and I would like to see some progress in that direction. I will say, though, that the lack of unilateral support from all Americans is a large reason why the insurgents are not backing off one bit.

Take that simplistic, pigeonhole crap elsewhere. Some of us are trying to use logic.

Now THAT is absolute GARBAGE. So now, its the fault of the dissenters that we still face opposition? Complete nonsense. By that logic, if we all stood behind the president, the resistance would dwindle. No way in hell.

One very fundamental desire of extremist muslims is a world in a perpetual state of war. And right now, they are getting exactly that.

The insinuation that American opinion has anything to do with the insurgency is completely delusional.

    Hindsight, my man.

Nobody claimed that Clinton was perfect, just that it was nonsense that he did nothing and is responsible for 9/11 as Sourdough has claimed. I bash George Bush for the actions he has taken in Iraq, but I don't blame him for 9/11. He could have done better. Clinton could have done better, too.

    TigerWins said it pretty well:

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it was going to happen regardless who occupied the White House. And there is plenty enough blame to go around ... including Clinton and Bush."

So if we put the war expenditures into food stamps, welfare, public education, public transit, Charity Hospitals, ad nauseum, the muslim extremists will suddenly wish us well? You have no idea, CC. You should be back in Berkeley in the 60's. They had no clue either but were too stoned to raise hell.

Well, in Bush's defense, Billy Boy had a lot more bites at that apple.

Please try and make sense. And also perhaps refrain from putting words into my mouth. If we didn't spend the $200billion on the war, I'm guessing we wouldn't be in Iraq AT ALL. Therefore, there would be no insurgency in Iraq. How difficult is that to understand?
