Re: Re: I don't like House of Saud either.

We can't drill in ANWR because of politics.
We can't diversify our energy sources because of politics and because many would be more expensive than current sources.
In my lifetime I've probably split 50/50 between political parties.
It doesn't matter the party or the group, they both have their interests that usually don't benefit the average American consumer.
I know the oil companies have their own interest at heart. I read about that everyday. I also know these other supposed environmental groups have financial interests. I don't read about them everyday. But I know they exist. And I know they aren't the average American consumer.

I agree that many of the energy diversification are more expensive. If they weren't the energy companies would be on them already.

But we should invest in them because it's beneficial to national security.

    We can invest in whatever.
Just know what the endgame will be.
    Rewarding special interests.
Whether that special interest benefits Republican or Democrat politicians.
As far as national security, we are spread so thin right now in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Europe, etc. that we can't afford any more external fronts.
And as far as internal security, some seem more worried about being detained at an airport than they do another 9/11.
Bush's opening up of the borders for political reasons is the worst most blatant exhibition of political opportunity, rather than national security, in my lifetime.
Yet, no one complains about that. And if they do, they want the borders even more open or they are branded racists. Sad situation.
