I think using titles (NCs at lease) are completely off base as long as we do not have a playoff. ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule:
:thumb: Right you are, my friend. There are many who argued that...last year...the two best teams were LSU and UF. I believe this was pretty well proven in January...but of course, UF deserved the shot to REALLY prove who was the best...since they beat us in the regular season. By the way...which LSU team was better? The '01 team that won the SEC...or last season's team? I say last season's team was better.
No, next up for the VolNation is to decide whether they try to get West Virginia’s coach or Alabama’s and get him before Notre Dame picks one of them and eliminates UT having a choice. ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule:
I look at it like this... National spotlight (top 10 year in and out) BCS appearances and 4 top ten picks in the draft are way more important than a given title. It leads to talent that may not otherwise look at LSU to give it a thought...and seriously. As long as the talent is here the titles will take care of themselves. It's inevitable.
That brings up an interesting point. You can't always win yourself into a national title game as the Barners found out. Until we have a true playoff system, the conference championships are the one sure thing that a team has total control over. It may be hard to relate to living in Louisiana, but in other states like Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama, bragging rights around the office can be pretty important, and in some cases, can be downright brutal.
Yikes. So Saban had nothing to do with the BCS title and SEC titles when he was at LSU? I guess DiNardo and Saban both were at the roulette table, and both guys put a million on red and black, and Saban is the lucky bastard who picked the right color? :dis:
