I wish we had another Reagan...the best President thus far in my lifetime.

Hopefully Obama won't be as bad as Carter. So far he's not off to a good start.

By this absurd "definition", all government is socialism merely by taxing its population.

Taxation is in no way socialism. If it were so, we have been socialist since 1776. You can't possible be this dim.

balance, man, have you heard of it? we are trying to find a balance between unfettered capitalism and socialism. the most important thing is that we find a reasonable and prudent point between the extremes.

everyone that understands balance knows that government management of health care or health insurance, this sways the balance too far away from capitalism.

    balance, man, balance.

It appears Reagan was closer to the truth than the scare tactics being used by Al Gore and the rest of the global warming crew.

Not true. In a dynamic system, balance requires moving the fulcrum from time to time. The current system is unsustainable with premiums doubling every decade. A rebalancing is in order.

Clearly the ONLY option to do any sort of rebalancing requires government intervention.

we disagree, but fine. given that the extremes are pure socialism and pure capitalism, can you at least agree to the obvious point that the current plans are more socialistic than previously? and isnt this the point everyone is making?

and i hope now that you can understand that merely mentioning the word balance isnt sufficient to make a point. every topic is about balance, we are ironing out where the balance point is. in this case, there is an attmept to shif the balance to the left, towards socialism. this really cant be disputed. whether socialism is good or bad, that is the dispute.

Exactly what does that have to do with socialized healthcare?
