Thanks! Nice work. If we're second in either of the human polls, and a close 3rd in the other, we should be in.... Gonna be close!!! :geaux:
Amazing stuff here. The football gods were aligned for us this year. The year we played VT, is comes down between them and us. Most people really don't think about the odds of this happening since we have only played them twice, maybe ever!
I figure we are 2nd in Harris, a tought and tight 3rd in Coaches (3 way race between LSU, GA and Vtech).
I hope your right, but I am not that confident that LSU will get in. My biggest worry is LSU not being ahead of Oklahoma, V Tech, Ohio St, and Georgia in the human polls. I am not confident that LSU will leap frog Georgia AND V Tech AND Kansas.
Go back and re-read the post showing the adjusted computer polls Don't worry about Georgia or Kansas....they are done. Worry about Vtech only slightly, we just need a few votes in our favor, I say we will get a bunch
I don't know why not. I think the voters will consider t he fact that UGA and KU did not win their conferences, let alone their divisions with their conferences. And they will also likely consider that LSU blew Va.Tech out head-to-head this season by 41 freaking points. LSU getting in over the three teams you cite is the most logical conclusion. That's not to say it will happen, but I think it will. If we don't get past Va.Tech in the polls for some reason, Va. Tech will hear a lot about it as they get ready for their game. Judging by the discussions taking place among columnists and pundits on the 'net and TV (I don't know how many actually have votes), it doesn't even look close. -LSU v. tOSU.
I'm not talking about the computer polls. I am talking about the human polls, particularly the USA Today poll. I think LSU has trouble getting past #4 - that would require them to leap-frog 3 IDLE teams - AND not have Oklahoma move ahead of them. The voters may actually do an overall season analysis and just do that - but I don't see how we can be so sure. Can LSU get in if they are #4 in the USA Today poll?
Conceivably the LSU Tigers could be #3 in the Harris and #4 in the Coaches and still be #2 in the BCS. Harris 1. OSU 2. Georgia 3. LSU 4. Vtech Coaches 1. OSU 2. Georgia 3. VTech 4. LSU This could be the outcome tomorrow and LSU still make it to #2 if LSU has a significant edge over Vtech in the Harris, much moreso than what would have to be the slightest of leads by Vtech over LSU in the Coaches. So yes, that could happen. And if the AP deems Georgia be #2 as well, then we're possibly looking at a split championship like in 03, but not likely.
Using your logic, why would OU leapfrog us if we wouldn't jump anyone ourselves? I think there are two reasons to answer your question. First, those teams were idle and not playing for a conference championship. Second, this isn't your run-of-the-mill weekly poll. The voters are really going to have to consider their votes now.
