I remember the Oregon State game during the alma mater, I don't know what got to me, but I just started crying. It was a wierd, but special feeling. It's something LSU and Tiger Stadium does to you. Hopefully, the Class of 2005 and us fans have a reason to celebrate on Friday. We gotta beat Arkansas.
that and the radio broadcast of Billy Cannon's run. Hell my DAD was only 3 in '58, but that broadcast just brings out the goosebumbs.
The game that always sticks in my memory was LSU (17)/Ole Miss (16) with Bert Jones hitting Brad Davis in coffin corner (wasn't it something like 3 pass plays in the last 5 seconds?) Gotta love it. I laid on my living room floor listening on the radio crying. I grew up in Vidalia, LA right across the river from Natchez, MS. The rivalry back then (60's and early 70's was huge). I've seen a few against Ole Miss, Alabama, Tulane, Rice. The best one I ever personally saw was the game against Florida State. If we won, we were going to the Orange Bowl. We kicked their butt (55-17?) It is the only game in Tiger stadium that I saw with my Dad. There were oranges flying out on the field before the game even started and they continued with every score. What a game. What a memory. I hope this with my daughter can be half as exciting. Mark A. (Plano, TX)
My first game was Texas A&M in '86. I was about a month shy of 8 years old. We arrived on Campus early, and ate in the cafeteria. I'll never forget walking into the Stadium, all the sights and sounds and smells that TV just doesn't give you. Then you come out and see the field. It's like HD tv and the IMAX combined, only better. LSU beat A&M 35-17. I was HOOKED from then on. I've never missed more than 2 home games in any year since then. Maybe next year I'll bring my son to his first game. I just want to make sure he's old enough to remember it as well as I remember mine
That was my first game as well. Sat in the West Upper, 2nd highest row. Saw lots of clouds Never will sit there again.
I cant watch that without chills running down my spine. Living in Cal. i dont get to as many games as i would like and none in person this year but i live and die with the Tigers. My last game was a wedding present from my wife for the first game in 2003. I had described it to her many times and she realized how much it meant to me. She has become a fan and has agreed that when we retire Baton Rouge area is our place. I have agreed to stay in California till then if we can road trip once in awhile to Baton Rouge in the meantime. Will be making the Ariz St road trip necxt time. Too short of notice this time to make it happen. Sure would like to see a home and home with Stanford,Cal. or any west coast team.
I just had to watch that video again, sure made me feel better today :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
