Please stop side stepping my question and answer me. I am definitely talking about raising revenue, taxes, tax rates, whatever else you would like to name it. Last time: you cannot balance the budget without revenue increases. spending cuts alone will not suffice. the budget was balanced 1997-2001 from cooperation from the President and the Congress using both revenue increases and spending cuts, some of which took the form of tax relief on capital gains tax and implemented the first child tax credit. you made the assertion that cutting taxes alone would raise revenues which is false and has always been false. to make your point you are cherry picking your data and ignoring the fact that our budget woes started getting considerbly better in 1993 when taxes were raised. the fact that we didn't reach a balanced budget until 1997 has absolutely nothing to do with the aforementioned tax cuts. For one thing, the tax relief act of 1997 didn't even take effect until 1998. The budget surplus started in 1997.
