Here we go again with the insults. All BS aside, when you start calling other people names and insulting them it is an indication that you have run out of intelligible things to say. Seriously, dude, I stopped calling people names in grade school....you should try it. I have been arguing the very same thing all along. It is you who moves the goal posts when ever your argument runs into a dead end. You said that this was a "massive" tax increase when in fact it is a 1% tax on 1% of the population. You still haven't answered me as to whether your taxes are going up or not.
supa....I agree with everything you said that I highlighted in red. it is a common sense approach and very reasonable. that said, the sentence that I highlighted in blue isn't totally correct. if we had absolutely no national debt then your statement would be true and I would agree. that said, when we owe as much as we do we will have to take in more than we spend in order to pay down our debt, at least for a while. your taxes would not increase by 400%, that is absurd. if you are in the highest income bracket then you are likely paying somewhere around 15% these days. when clinton was prez you would have paid 39% which would be a 24% increase. the last time I checked people of all stripes and bank balances were doing pretty good, including the middle class. you will notice in previous post that I said we would have to updated the tax code because our economy isn't the same as it was during the Clinton years. further, once our national debt was paid off we could lower tax rates so that we are only taking in what we need.
I can agree with C-G. We first need a budget and not a gimmick budget like both Obama's and Paul Ryan's are. I agree with cutting spending also....across the board to include defense spending. then yes, we need to roll back the Bush tax cuts and see where that leaves us, do the math and make some common sense decisions.
Dude, that's not even close to being true. Not even close. I wasn't in the highest tax bracket last year and paid much more than 15%. Entirely untrue and misinformed. You're listening to Buffett too much.
OH NO I CALLED YOU CLUELESS.. Cry about it. Also, please link to me where I said MASSIVE tax increase.. Please, search for it. The fact of if my taxes are going up is not the point. I have already outlined the points I have made. No one has changed the argument except you, for example, you mentioned Bush in this thread for some reason that escapes me.
why? I was also in the highest income bracket the past two years and I have paid nothing more than 21%. do you have investment income?
I am a big boy and can take the name calling. It is more of a reflection of you than me my friend. you still haven't answered my question.
