    Re: conference alignment

    Dear SoCal,

What would you and (say) UCLA be willing to pay to join us in OUR conference? Just wondering. Either bring some big bucks or enjoy the next few years of misery.

    Sincerely,

    Texas

I expect that the other teams in the Little 10 will take offense at the ESPN headline on television right now. It reads "Texas saves Big 12". Texas is the one who started all of this mess, but ESPN is now attempting to make them look like they are saviors. Mack Brown was interviewed, but no one from A&M, Oklahoma, etc.. I guess it is a one team league.

Just my dos centavos, but I don't believe this expansion mess is over yet.

I suspect that the 11th-hour decision to hold the Big XII together was cobbled together by various parties in an effort to buy breathing time following the Pac-10 preemptive strike.

I don't see all of the remaining programs staying loyal to the conference when they ultimately learn all of the financial details of the texas network. They should rename it the BigWhorn Conference. There is no single team remaining that can effectively compete with UT given the immense advantages that tilt the playong field in the Longhorns' favor.

A&M should have sacked-up and made the move to the SEC, which may yet happen before all is said and done. Essentially, all UT did was threaten the networks for more money or face the likelihood of a scorched-earth action from Texas. Blowing up the conference is an expensive and risky proposition for the networks who are making a small fortune off of the Big 12.

Texas was never going to the Pac-10 because the Pac-10 is committed to equitable sharing of revenues. Likewise for the SEC. Texas has enjoyed a sense of entitlement for decades ... a benefit they will not be provided in a significantly more competitive conference.

IMO, the Big XII Conference is a dead man walking ......

You mean the check's not in the mail.

And if it ever does get mailed, I hope it bounces.
