Orangebloods.com - Remaining schools in Big 12 close to saving league

Looking more and more like the Big XII is going to stay together. I think the SEC will be fine with that. No way this pathetic version of the Big XII competes with the SEC, and the Pac 10 didn't improve themselves much. If everything falls the way it looks like it will, the biggest winner will be the Big 10, and the biggest loser will be any school but Texas in the Big XII.

I did, and I know the Big 10 makes all the money, so that would lend even more credence to the argument of this being motivated by sheer greed.

Yes, as far as revenues go, still doesn't mean they put a superior product on the field.

It's hard to see the "blood lines" changing much in these rivalries. Long before Miami and Florida State found themselves together in the ACC, their annual bloodletting has been more about contempt then conference allegiance. Texas and Oklahoma made the "red river" rivalry famous long before the Big 12 came along.

Lets say Texas A&M finds their way east to the wild west, lets say Auburn, do to geographical circumstances gets pushed further east to make a little room. What's the odds we stop playing the "Iron Bowl?" You do realize the SEC office in B'ham. gets free rent and "other stuff."

Rivalries are the ties that bind. What different does the conference or their make up really matter?

Right now the Big Ten footprint has the country's largest population (if you let the Big Ten gurus count the whole NY-Philly market as Penn State followers!?!)... regardless, it's a big market. The Big Ten also has the advantage of the population shift to the south, be it Georgia, Florida, Texas or Arizona, as the south's population gains are a bunch of old northerners like me moving south... but keeping our old loyalties right into the grave.
Over time this will change and the population will even out... or even become disproportionate in favor of the south. The SEC could benefit greatly from the shift.
But, until then, it's not difficult to see the overall revenue stream the Big Ten enjoys.

The Divisions must be balanced, rivalries be damned. If "rivalries" must be honored, then pick one . . . not two.

Man.... What conference is represented on the right? Are those the sisters of the poor wannabe sec universities in all of the SEC states? Just judging by the spots each line ends.

I've enjoyed this forum for a number of years. One of the sticks that I alway get thrown at me is the Big Ten needs 12 teams and a conference championship. Now the Big Ten makes a move to do just that and they're being greedy, let alone... arrogant.

I guess, to some, the pureness of how the SEC does things is simply beyond the Big Ten's reach.
