kraft already said brady deserves the highest qb salary in the league but he may have to accept less to keep the team intact. Cutting Ty Law would not surprise me in order to do this given they made a statement to this team cutting their top db in Lawyer Milloy a couple of years ago. something unheard of. then again, I dont recall Ty Law being a selfish player.

Yea, I think Brady's deal runs through 2006 (and is worth less TOTAL than Manning's SIGNING BONUS.) The Pats had the 24th highest payroll in football, and they'll probably stick w/ that strategy. The looming question is obviously what to do about Brady.

Of course we have the answer...2006 is ROHAN'S TIME TO SHINE!

Didn't Law create some controversy this year with his statements about his pay? It may have been Milloy last year but I don't think so. Most of what I've heard is that Poole and Law will be gone. The Pats will also rework Brady's contract again with another signing bonus but sooner or later they will have to either take a cap hit on him or something, they can't keep putting off the hit with extensions and bonuses with a league minimum salary and the rest in bonuses. On one site they said the cap hit for Brady next year will be 14 mil. another said 8 mil, who knows for sure?

It was Law this year...he was griping before the season, before realizing he makes a small fortune for a CB. The Pats offered him the door, and he elected to stay and collect another ring.

$8M for Brady sounds more accurate, as I think the total value of that contract was in the neighborhood of $28M.

yeah i think i recall Law bitching now you mentioned it. I was thinking maybe i was confusing him with Milloy but it was right after they won the sb last year.

Here's a big key to their success: Law looks like the odd man out with that big salary. all these vets working for peanuts in NFL salary terms.

    2003

Player Base Salary Sign Bonus Other Bonus Total Salary

    Law, Ty $ 4,900,000 $ 0 $ 1,205,600 $ 6,105,600

    Poole, Tyrone $ 655,000 $ 1,800,000 $ 100 $ 2,455,100

    Harrison, Rodney $ 655,000 $ 500,000 $ 800 $ 1,155,800

    Bruschi, Tedy $ 850,000 $ 0 $ 4,300 $ 854,300

    Brown, Troy $ 755,000 $ 0 $ 55,600 $ 810,600

    Green, Jarvis $ 300,000 $ 0 $ 4,700 $ 304,700

    Brady, Tom $ 450,000 $ 2,675,000 $ 4,700 $ 3,129,700

If those figures are right, actually even if they're not, I'll never understand why the Saints signed Brooks to a 6 year, 36 million dollar contract a couple of years ago. He's got to be the most over payed QB in the league.
