i think he was active for one game and had 0 tackles. Looks like he will be behind Warren for good unless he proves otherwise.

This is why I was so surprised to see him not drafted by anyone. You don't find guys that run like that lying around, and by the 6th and 7th rounds it's pretty much a crapshoot anyways.

Of course, Tom Brady was a 6th rounder so there are some very good players still around. The personnel guys in NE do a great job of identifying guys like that.

Brady already signed a big contract, not the highest paid QB, but somewhere in the range of 6 ears $40mil. I'm not positive but I think it was last year , not 100% positihe signed it.

It appears the Pats have Brady signed through next season with an option of some kind but expect them to rework his contract again this offseason ti reduce an expected cap hit of about 10 million next year. Of course this depends on which article you read and who is doing the figuring.

I could see Crennel going after Gay.

I believe Gay will have to accrue 3 seasons before he can be a restrcited free agent now unless he were to be cut.

I don't see the boy getting cut. Not after coming in as an undrafted rookie and playing as well as he did. He's proven that he has as much talent and ability as just about any young db that's gonna come in, and the vast majority of rookies don't step in and play with the big boys as well as he did. Sure he's not perfect, but he's fast, got good vision, and makes good plays. After all, he did just win the super bowl. He gave up that one long run when he fell down, but he also had a bunch of tackles, some broken up passes, and a forced fumble. Not to mention that he wasn't scored on the whole game. I don't think he's going anywhere for a while, thought I have been wrong at least twice.

Some sports writer (I think it was espn.com) wrote the other day that they might cut one of the veterans since the young guys played so well. Don't know about that, but it's an interesting thought.

biffafong, I hope you don't think I was suggesting that Gay would be cut, if you do than you are mistakenb there. I was answering a post made about Crennel going after him. Some people seem to think that since he may have signed a 1 yr contract that he can be a free agent. I believe he had a 2 yr deal and he can not be a free agent even if he was on a 1 yr contract unless the PATS cut him, which I know will not happen.

The talk has actually been of cutting Ty Law, and his monstrous salary (something like $10M base, which is a helluva lot for a 30 y/o corner w/ injury problems.) He'll probably bounce back somewhere else as an All Pro, but the Pats didn't get to where they are by having big ticket question marks.
