It kills me how Holtz is treated as some sort of football genius and all around good guy. Has this guy ever run a program that he didn't ultimately leave in shambles and/or in trouble with the NCAA? How South Carolina thought they could hire him and not end up in trouble is beyond me. I guess the SC administration is kind of like an abused woman that just won't leave the abuser thinking "I just know I can change him" or "It will be different with me".

As a side note, A company I used to work for brought him in as a 'motivational' speaker for a sales conference. What a waste. The only people he motivated were the ones in the first row that moved back when he took a break because of all of the spit that flew out of his mouth when he talked.

Here's why... if the school wasn't punished, then they could just allow the current coach to violate whatever NCAA rules they wanted to, and then when they feel they're about to be caught, they could just pay that coach off and fire him, hire a new coach, and repeat the process.

I don't buy that. The coach would never go for it. I say, if Holtz did something wrong, go after him. Since he has already been fired, move on. Don't punish those that had nothing to do with it. JMO.

ESPN could suspend him to show that they don't condone cheating.
