Yes I do think this can happen. No, I do not think this has happened to us at any time this year. Prove that Miles has made poor decisions and I will believe you but you can't. This coaching staff has done well this year and last. They cannot be held responsible for every mental error and dropped pass on the field of play. Out of twelve dropped passes, any three turned the other way give us victory. The plays were called correctly, but not executed correctly enough to win.
IMHO, the only reason this thread is good is because of the title...play RP MORE. Most don't think RP should start and that Flynn is just terrible...but the offense does seem to click when they "platoon" them...bringing in RP every few plays. I took this thread title to mean -why didn't he play late in the game?-. That was certainly MY thoughts. It just seemed like the running game coulda used a spark late. When they missed the two pointer, I thought for sure we had it. We should've had NO PROBLEM getting a TD, and the two pointer would've been easy too...in my perfect world. By my way of thinking...for the two pointer especially...bring in RP to run the option. I thought he should've been in on at least the 3rd down, too...and definitely the 4th and 2 that ended it. Let people vent a little. This isn't nearly as bad as other forums. I've only seen one thread blaming the refs...and that one was not really blaming the refs as much as saying we shouldn't have been in a position to let the refs be a factor. We'll be alright...and there have definitely been worse days.
The WR's have dropped a ton of balls and missing Doucet is really really hurting, but Flynn hasn't been consistently accurate either and his pocket presence has been questionable at times. I still don't understand why they don't give Perrilloux a chance to inject some life into the passing game. This is why he should have been given an opportunity against South Carolina and Tulane. Get him involved in games that were pretty well in hand for most of the second half. The passing games just hasn't been reliable, and it's hard not to wonder if using Perrilloux more wouldn't improve things. That said, the defense lost this game. The offense did enough to win. The D is supposed the be the strength of this team and they didn't deliver today.
I think the most alarming stat is 35 pass attempts and only 130 yards. With LSU having its way with the running game, we should be able to throw much more effectively. Part of it was pass protection, part of it dropped passes, but a good part of it was just plain poor play by Flynn.
and deep down you think that RP would have played better... This is an issue every year at QB, someone is always better. Even last year with JR, people would cry put MF in the game..boo whoo booo whoo! You know what I think, it is the same people who wanted MF in last year that want MF out this year. You are just trying to blam a bad game on a single player and I really hate that. That kid has a heart of gold, so don't take it away from him. He needs support. You know what when RP comes in the game, I am not in bashing the kid, I am all for him. These are good coaches that obviously know how to win games. Just had a bad night thats all, against a great team.
The passing game just hasn't held up it's end. Maybe using Perrilloux as a DUAL threat would open some thing up. They should have been preparing for that weeks ago. Use all your weapons.
I've been drawing up a package that has both RP and Flynn.. I have a hunch the O.C won't really care about it ^^ but it's interesting. RP is athletic enough to be a threat in the running game.. it also prevents the safetys from pursuing the run -- or they'll let RP launch one. I'm not sure if it'd work or not.. I just envision a screen to RP with the option attached. :] EDIT: I understand we don't want to hurt him -- it's just for fun.
We have played numerous ranked teams and we had an off night against a pretty damn good team at their house and we lost. Ohio State will now be number one. Have they played a ranked team this season? It's a joke. We will now find out about LSU next week. May God have mercy on Auburn's soul.
