I think LSU/OU-H/H games would be great. From reading a couple articles today it isn't gonna happen in '05 though. This will give this years somewhat new team and coaches time to solidify. On another note it will give OU fans a chance to come to Tiger Stadium and witness the true hospitality of Tiger fans instead of Bourbon St.,N.O. where their grandmothers were accosted and they "feared for their lives" at the N.C. game. However,"tiger bait" will still be chanted VERY loudly.

We had that reputation way before the Sugar Bowl. I aint worried about what kind of time the boomer fans had. The bottom line is they expected us to just roll over because they are the mighty sooners coming to town. Well it did'nt happen that way inside the dome or outside, that's where all the BS rumors came from.

ya know.....i've thought alot about this and really if there hadn't been the florida loss last year, lsu would have been #1 going into the championship game and there were alot of conservative non-conference games.....there shouldn't be a problem scheduling a "softer" non-conference opponent since it allows your players to heal up for the next game.......no i think its a smart coaching move and as long as you win the tough conference games you'll be o.k. in the polls.......may not make for entertaining football but it get's the job done....

All year we cried for respect. You get respect by playing good teams year in and year out in the national spotlight.
This is a win-win situation. If you lose the game to OU, it's an early season loss, but to a very good team. We saw this year how an early season loss can be overcome, even make a team better, much better.
If you win, you win. No way that's bad.

We can not be blinded by the NC bright lights. We cannot count on playing for the NC every year. I certainly hope it does not take another 40 years to play for the championship again but I for one certainly do not want to watch 40 years of non-competive non-conference games while hoping the stars align just right again. Also, any year that we have Vandy on the schedule we should absolutely schedule a team of national stature. Do you think we can always count on the East to provide us with a highly ranked opponent in the SEC championship game. Remember when the West provided 3 loss teams to the East including LSU. Had we had a better non-conference schedule last year there would not have been a split national championship. And yes, I believe we would have beat just about any good team on our schedule and I also agree that if we schedule these nationally respected teams early enough in the schedule we have much more to gain than lose.

Very true!!!! You can also learn much more about your team and where they stand in a close loss against a team like OU than you can from a 30 point win over cream puff U. To be the best you have to beat the best. Run from competition and you're no better than those titty baby want to be condoms from the West coast.   :D :D :D :geaux:  :champs:

totally agree. there has to be a happy medium which is hard to do so far in advance. The stars aligning just right was right on. Its not going to happen like that possibly ever again. We do need to stay in the upper echelon and that will happen as long as you win the conference and stay somewhat dominant which looks like we will be with this staff and recruits. Adding the Oreg Sts of the world and similar opponents with an occasional OU is the right way to do things.
