I disagree w/ your "what if we lose ideology" We should play the best we can. I do agree, however that it should not be Oklahoma. They have no natural recruiting base, which is a testament to how good their program is. They have proven to be successful in mining talent from other location, namely, Dallas. We have nothing to gain by playing them Texas. We are already getting these recruits from Florida and Texas, there is not upside to playing them. If, however, we would strike something up with USC, Michigan, Ohio State, or another non-geographic rival, I would be for it.
I'll tap out on this one. It looks like this is going to happen and I AM excited about it. You know my opinion and I will move on - I will be looking forward to OU in Death Valley and I will make the trip to OU without question.
you took it down a notch as soon as you decided that if we didn't agree with your opinion that we couldn't post it here.
Monkey Boy Peabody ... So Stoops didn't get enough the first time Reminds me of Trinity movies where Terence Hill bitch slaps the fool about three times in a row before he can draw his gun ... I don't want to misquote the man ... let's see ... Terence Hill says ... It's kinda hard to catch the first time ... pay attention now ... whap, whap, whap! We'd love to bitch slap Stoops and their newest Frankenstein ... guess it's Bhomar in 2005
I'm very happy about the OU/LSU series, it will be great fun. I was just throwing cold water on those folks here that keep crying to replace ALL THREE of our out-of-conference opponents with major contenders. It just isn't practical. We need a mix of top contenders like Oklahoma as well as some mid-level teams. Playing 8 SEC games is murder and adding three gorillas to the mix is asking for trouble. :champs:
I agree with you, I don't mind playing OU but I would like to play other teams from other conferences as well, variety. What I meant on my other post about not caring to play a top 5 team every year. I would like us to play a top 25 non conference team every year whether its Miami or Fla State or whoever, theres no guarantee they will be top 5 but they are some of the elite programs in college football. They are by example but I do like the Florida teams better than the other teams so I am biased based on that!
I'd like to bring in teams from other regions that we never get to see, such as when we brought in UW, OSU and USC back when. I think those games stimulate a lot of interest as they are very well known and also due to them being from the Big 10 or Pac 10.
From a recruiting standpoint I agree with this. Makes much more sense to play a Michigan, Ohio State or USC.
