To a certain extent. I believe it’s when the extremes begin to believe the other side is evil rather than merely wrong or misguided. It’s one thing to debate and accept compromise if your opponent has good intentions even if you disagree with him. It’s another if you think he’s sold his soul to the devil. First he vilified the democrat leadership, then he broke the 40 year plus democrat monopoly on the House....they’ve never forgiven him or the republicans for messing up their thing. The democrats’ vilification of W and especially Obama’s of Mitt were over the top but right along with the right’s vilification of most progressives.....the exposure of HRC as the devil excepted. Outside of politics on a social scale the gun control, immigration & climate change debates reflect the hardening of hearts on both extremes. Sorry Mr. Mushy Middle but at this point in American history the left (democrats) are the extremist that is if YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN WHAT SETS AMERICA APART FROM EVERY OTHER COUNTRY AND MAKES US THE ENVY OF THE WORLD. What sets us apart is the belief that the government works for us not the other way around. That we are governed by the rule of law, the constitution and the Bill of Rights. That we are a representative republic in which laws are made by our congressman and Senators and not by unelected bureaucrats. That judges local, state and federal should adide by the laws and the constitution of the United States and not their own opinions or political leanings. That we are a nation of borders like every other nation with right to decide who we allow in. That we have freedom of religion. That we have free speech. That we have right to protect ourselves and families from danger with our fist, knives and guns of OUR CHOICE. That belief in God is part of our founding not belief in government or belief in extreme enviromentalism as our God. That government should not decide which religion we choose but not take religion from us. Sorry wrong again as usual. The democrats do not believe in all of the above. All men and women are flawed but Trump at this point is living up to being for all of the above despite his personal flaws. Show me a president who didn't have flaws and I will sell some mountain property in the Atchafalaya Basin. The second amendment, right to our sovereignty and borders and right to freedom from beaurecratic dictates (regulation by national and international laws because of fraudulent agenda driven climate change) are not hardening of hearts but rather our laws, freedoms and WHAT SETS US APART FROM 2 BIT DESPOT RUN COUNTRIES LIKE VENEZUELA OR DICTATORSHIPS LIKE NORTH KOREA.
