The d-line looks talented as ever, and with quality depth. But we'll start new players at 2 LB spots, and 3 secondary spots, and 2 defensive coordinator spots! Mistakes will be made. I hope the talent is there (I suspect it is) and that it gels quickly. I'm not expecting a top 3 defense in the nation next season.
You'd be amazed at what deficiencies in your back 7 that a dominating front 4 can cover up. don't forget Al Woods and Tremaine Johnson (that means we go 9 quality deep on the line, nice and fresh come 4th quarter). Looking at LBs, we still have Beckwith (who should be that much better), Sanders was average at best and we will not miss a beat at his position, so that only leaves Highsmith's replacement as being crucial. I think someone will arrive and do a decent job. A slight dip in linebacker play overall. Very slight. Our safety play will just as good as last year with the rotation of Jones/Taylor/Coleman/McCray/Francois. Jones will have a standout year. Coleman has arrived on the scene just in the nick of time (damn.....bad pun). Taylor should be that much better as well and a leader of the secondary. So unless our 2 DBs just can't get it done, this will be another top 3 to top 5 defense next season.
So what you're saying is, he has to still be a 'full-time student'? I don't know the rules, that's why I'm asking. But sounds great that he is furthering his education! GEAUX Pittman! :LSU231:
