bitter, don't let facts get in your way So PC was a disaster in the NFL? As the Pats coach for the 3 years, they made the playoffs the first 2 season. They won the AFC East at 10-6, then went 9-7, then 8-8. Overall he went 27-21 in the regular season. He currently owns the franchises 2nd best winning percentage at 54.9%. The Pat's owner has already stated on numerous occasions that he pulled the trigger way too early by firing PC. His '94 Jets went 6-10. Only 3 other Jets coaches won more games in their rookie season. In '95 and '96, he was the 49ers defensive coordinator. They went 11-5 in that first year and had the top rated D in the NFL. In '96 they were 12-4 and went to the playoffs. So he's not going to go down as the greatest NFL coach in history but he is far from a disaster. I don't know if the NFL is more difficult but it's certainly a lot less fun. Why do you think they call it the No Fun League? By the look on Charlie's face these days, it's exactly where he belongs.
It might have been uncool to ask for autographs for awhile but now people swallow their pride and make a smart business decision. I will never sell an autographs of LSU players and coaches. But when I have an opportunity to get one from other famous people, I sell it on Ebay and make that $$$$.:hihi:
I gained a small, repeat, small bit or respect for carroll this year, when he was asked at the rose bowl, was it a letdown not to be in the NC game, he said no, because they didn't deserve to be there, they lost to ucla. saving all my animosity for a nameless coach in bamaville
Re: bitter, don't let facts get in your way Vball, I think Pete's a great college coach but in regards to the NFL.......... My opinion is that he got out just in time. :hihi: The Pats were progressively worse each year.
ok i know grabbing a napkin and getting an autograph is against man law. but what if it's a football or an LSU helmet or something? can a grown man get an autograph from let's say CLM on a helmet? i need a ruling on this.
Slapping tiga Yes, the Pats were getting progressively worse. However, his record there stands at 27-21. Not great, but not a disaster either. And I think he did get out in time...........from everyone's perspective but mostly his. He may return to the NFL one day but I think it's pretty clear that he was meant to be a college coach.
The animosity towards a coach and a team (SC) that did nothing but accept what was given to them by the AP is blindingly dumb and childish. Fact: Oklahoma had no business in that Sugar Bowl. Fact: If the shoe was on the other foot, LSU fans would be proud of the AP honor and a coach who battled the system for the benefit of his players. Ask Michigan fans how much they like their weak, spineless, "diplomatic" coach who refused to speak up and go to bat for his team. I think the grownup version of getting the autograph of someone you admire is to have your picture taken with them.
I darn sure would if I wanted one- personally, I prefer pictures but that may be worse. lol You do what works for you. :thumb:
Oh really? So I didn't hear him actively campaigning for the AP to make them #1? And he wasn't the one who said he felt like they won a national championship when USC beat an overrated Michigan team? Oh, must've been someone else...
I remember that. Lynn Swann, or somebody, asked him if he felt like he just won a National Championship. He replied in the affirmative. His other option was to say "no." You don't think the bitter, fat, crusty sportswriters of the USA would have picked up on that? Plus, saying something like that makes your team (comprised of 18-22 year-olds) think that you don't believe in them. In the interest of discussion: Think back to 2003 and the roles of USC and LSU are completely reversed. How would you have wanted Nick Saban to handle it?
