People are never happy with the starting QB. Some wanted JR to start over Mauck his first year. Then many wanted Flynn over JR. Now we want RP over Flynn.

Next year we'll be saying Lee over RP.

I'm not a naysayer and very much enjoyed the win. :)

I'm concerned about the QB position going in to a big game.

I do know one thing: since Flynn will be the QB vs. VT, i sure hope the consensus around here that i am wrong is ... right!

But i have my fears ...

And you were probably one of the fans calling for Flynn to start last year. And next year you will be calling for Lee to start.

Flynn by no means had a bad game. Nearly 200 total yards and 2 Tds in his first game in over a year. He will improve a lot between the first and second game, just like all players and teams do.

This is way too early to start this conversation and it should not even be discussed.

Flynn did very well and we have more to go on as far as Flynn leading a team in big games versus RP. The 1st half of the opening games, the offense is having to work out the kinks. I wouldn't judge the QB play based on 1 half of play. That's stupid.

You are just ignoring the fact that Flynn did lead the team on 2 back to back drive for touchdowns against MSU's 1st team. RP came in after all motivation was sapped from the MSU sideline and the game was over.

Flynn went against a highly motivated defense that were moving and attacking, RP went against a defense that was destroyed and had nothing left.

RP is more talented in the arm strength category and has more quickness in his runs, but that is no reason to take the starting spot away from Flynn. Plus RP is on the hot seat with LM and you don't reward him with the starting spot when he has been getting into some trouble.

Flynn waited for his chance and has the talent, ability, and mind to lead us to wins so he deserves the start. RP just needs to sit and wait for his time.

I really can't believe this discussion is happening. The QB is not the thing that needs to be discussed, the O-line is a real issue for us.

If we lose to Vtech it won't be because of Flynn, it will be because our O-line won't be able to handle Vtech's defense and we will not be able to have a running game and Flynn will be getting pressure all night. The O-line doesn't improve for that game I don't think we will win. We must have the running game clicking and our offense has to perform better than Vtechs or we will lose.

Seems like that should be the key focus at this point for the offense.:thumb:

    1) No, i supported JR all year.

    2) I sure hope you are right about MF improving. In a hurry. But given his talent level i don't think he has that much upside potential.

I don't know if Flynn was given all the chance of showing what he can do, given the limited starts so far. You are also forgetting how well his perceived performance is very much dependant on how well the rest of the offensive unit is playing.

I remember JR had quite a few interceptions and mental errors in 2005 when he shared the field with MR until he finally come into his own in the 2006 season. Also the receivers in 2006 were much more mature and performing better in 2006.

Flynn will be fine. He's got the talent & he's smart. Don't count him out after one game.
