Have faith in Miles et al. This constant ranting just makes everyone's blood pressure rise, and frankly, shows lack of faith in the coaching staff on managing what many perceive as a blossoming problem. 2005 will be a very good year for LSU, with a chance of going all the way. The coaches are responsible for the team chemistry, as well as the 13 or 14 Senior players returning this year. All is well in Death Valley:geauxtige LSU!
Okay, so you accuse him of being negative b/c of this... Yet just a little further down in the same post you say this... Congratulations on the most hypocritical post of the year!!!:thumb:
RP is what he is . . . A very talented over confident high school QB who was the star of his team with plenty to learn about college football. While Louisiana high school football is very tough, it's not the SEC. Chris Leak, with all the national attention and hype coming out of high school, may not go pro as early as his high school supporters and the national media believed. He will most likely end up in the NFL, but it won't be within the 3 year time span assumed when signed at FL. Players with RP's talent (and attention) have a hard road once they leave high school. They will not get slack for poor performances, RP is setting such a high standard right now in his quotes that he may not be able to reach them. No one could, it takes a very rare talent to come into the SEC and win right away as a freshman . . . at least to the point where you would be considered NFL ready as early as RP is hinting at now. RP is going to have to back all of this stuff up on the field. I was hoping he would red shirt . . . learn the college game, get stronger, really learn the LSU system, and by taking this step back I figured he would be more ready to face the level of success most expect out of him. I don't hate RP, and I don't feel like I am bashing him. I would say this about any all world high school player. I'm happy we got him, it's important to keep recruiting like this keeping these good players in state, but I don't respect his attitude lately. I'm over 25, and I don't like his comments. I wish he would just shut up and prove himself on the field. I know a little bit about RP, he went to Curtis before tranfering to ESJ. I know he has a ton of talent and he really is a great football player; he can play just about any speciality position on the field. Fast, tough, and can read a defense quickly. I don't think he is ready to handle SEC college football though, I really feel a red shirt year will do him a world of good. He left Curtis to get more playing time. He wanted to throw the ball, and in JC's system he would not have played early and forced to run the option. ESJ gave him a chance to showcase his talent . . . and it worked, he is the top recruit this year (not just in La, but nationally). RP now has to learn how to lead a team on the college level, if he can do it by next year then great, but I don't want to see him forced in if he isn't ready. LSU is not here to be a springboard for RP to hit the pros . . . SEC titles and NCs are much more important. RP has the chance to be part of a long legacy of great players at LSU, it should mean something. No one here wants to see RP fail, some of us would just like him to be a little more humble. Miles will deal with the situation, and I'm sure the team will be involved. Before RP goes to the NFL, he has to have success in college . . . he will not be able to do it without the team. I bet by the end of this season RP's quotes will be a lot different, I'm expecting his quotes to revolve around the team and not himself.
How many true freshman QB's have started a season opener in the SEC since 1945? How many? The answer is one - ONE - last year at Tennessee (and did they really have another viable option?)... Some of you are saying things like, "if RP comes in and lands the starting job over Flynn and Russell then I'll respect and support him" - respect? If Perrilloux earns the starting job by learning the offense, busting his ass all summer, and walking the walk, then your all-important respect will be way overrated IMO. You are essentially saying that Ryan Perrilloux has to do what no SEC QB has done since 1945 (I don't count the UT kids because they were only competing with Rick Clausen - not exactly a JaMarcus Russell or Matt Flynn - after the Leak kid moved to tight end). If Perrilloux can accomplish something for the first time since the Harry Truman White House he will have "walked the walk." Well, I hope you all prepare yourselves for Perrilloux's run at history. He will be ready. Will Russell? Will Flynn? Will you?
Well I'm certainly ready for him to be quiet and wait to prove it on the field, if that's what you mean.
Will what be enough for me? Him being quiet? Umm, no. He needs to perform. He needs to win games. He needs to succeed. But him shutting his loud mouth until he gets a chance to show what he can do would be a good start. :thumb:
No, not yet. And as much as I'm looking forward to it, it won't break my heart if I have to wait another year to see him.
When he gets a few "accidental, non-contact" azz jackings in practice..................he will realize HS is over and the game has changed and will STF up!o:
