I don't understand how trying to get into a casino with someone's else's ID can lead anyone to think he should be labeled as a "future felon." Come on. I agree with you that it was not a smart thing to do, and I hope he learns from it. But it is the just the sort of thing many college kids do. But this is not something that would allow anyone to read felon into his future.

Some on here are making RP out to be the mastermind of the great U.S. counterfeit money laundering ring. I mean come on, don't you think he would have been able to afford a real fake ID if he was printing his own money. He had to use a hand me down ID for crying out loud.

The only thing I can agree on is that he should be smarter and realize he is going to make sports headlines when he does stupid chit like this. But that's all it is, stupid chit.

You can pass judgment on his decision making, but to question the mans character over this is asinine. 1st, 2nd, 3rd string or practice squad.

thats the thing most are missing. rp has a pattern of minor things that has grated on miles. its not the investigation and then this. from what i gather, this is just the last straw which forced him to take what looks on the surface to be an overreaction but really isnt.

trust in lester. he doesnt hang his player's dirty laundry out to dry to validate his penalties. even if a star recruit. and for that we should be thankful.

he handles this crap internally because its no one elses business no matter how much we like to think otherwise.

If this was just an isolated incident, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. The mistakes he has made seems to be minor individually, but when you add them up, it seems to suggest something more than just a minor problem with RP.

I dunno, but clearly Miles thinks RP is a problem. He knows better than us what is at stake and the fallout from dismissing RP.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this writer. We need to move on, this is too much of a distraction for next year. Of course, CLM is the only one who knows the whole story and RP and can read his heart. CLM is a good man who wants to support his players. If RP is not getting it he needs to go.

i find that article irresponsible and repulsive even if I would agree with the stance. There's no way anyone knows the details of the prior incidents to be blatantly calling for a kid's future to be thrown away. Not in a local rag for millions to see.

    shameful.

RP...pull your head out of your a$$! Your future is too bright to be doing stupid things like this.

Posters who don't believe RP should be suspended (even for a day)...understand that CLM MUST have the respect of his players and be consistent with discipline. Appreciate the fact that he is not running a FSU, Nebraska, or Virginia Tech type team and that he won't tolerate BS.

CLM...thanks for making these players "men" not just "athletes". (Petey Carroll...take notes! Sorry uscvball...I just had to. :hihi: )

I believe the suspension will be short and will be used to get a message out to all players that they are representatives of LSU and shouldn't do anything to dishonor the university. Yes, he's only 20 and we should expect someone that age to occasionally do stupid things but there are also consequences for your actions...and RP needs to learn that lesson.

Hopefully RP just wanted to hang out at the casino. Gambling and athletes don't mix very well.

Not playing the "my coach suspends better than your coach card".

It is obvious to many who follow AU that T. Blackmon has been having some serious issues. The kid is a potential star; and must hold some type of record for missing the largest % of games due to suspensions. Keeping a kid around, unless he is poisoning others. can be a good move for both the team and kid. Keeping RP off the field until he realizes that he is an LSU Tiger, and this isn't the "RP: I Did It My Way" show is also a good move.

No 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' for Blackmon
    .......
After a fourth-month absence, he's an Auburn student again, a college football player again.
    .......
Blackmon returned and started classes last Thursday. He'll spend the rest of the summer working to gain eligibility for next season and working to get back into football condition in time for preseason practice. And he vows he'll not falter again.

"I look at this as an opportunity to do something for myself and also for my mother, sisters and brothers, everybody out there who believes in me and supports me," Blackmon said. "This is an opportunity I can't let pass me up. I don't want to be one of those woulda, shoulda, coulda guys.

    ........
Blackmon hasn't cleared all the hurdles he must to wear an Auburn uniform again. But he says he is determined to do what it takes to be ready athletically and academically for the final three years of his college career.

"He has a smile on his face, and he looks hungry," Tuberville said. "We are here for him. "That's what athletics and college are all about."

I don't agree with the article at all and think it's a bit much. As I said before, I agree with the disciplinary action taken thus far and I don't think we're going to hear much else from Miles about it. But I don't think he should just be booted off the team for something like this. He's 20 years old and CLM can still make an impression on him.
