OT, since you said you were quoting PA's comment just because it was the most recent, I shall assume that your comment was also directed at my earlier comments, along with a few other people's. Hope you don't mind me responding to your post given that assumption.

I can honestly say that I have personally never been arrested, charged with a crime, misdemeanor included, or even used a fake ID. For that matter, I lived in Tigerland in the late '80's as a student at LSU, and I went to a bar...Fred's...once! Not my thing...at the time, anyway. That being said, I have made many mistakes in life, and I have even gotten away with a few things here and there. I guess my problem with RP stems from the fact that, yes, he has had a federal investigation hanging over his head RECENTLY, and he isn't known as a really standup guy. Now, most of what I've heard about him is nothing more than rumor and conjecture, and I have always treated it as just that. BUT, now there are multiple run-ins with the law...yes...it is my understanding that there are more than the two this year...another in Kenner is alleged as well, from a while back...I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for this "kid" anymore. I just don't believe that it's no big deal to break the law, period. The fed inv. earlier this year should have taught him a lesson. I view this incident as proof that it didn't. Quite frankly, I don't think this guy is capable of being a leader, which is what a QB is supposed to be. He has, at the very least, character issues. I know some disagree with that assesment, but I can't see how doing something illegal doesn't indicate lack of character. If he is willing to break the rules of society, wouldn't it be fair to assume he's likely to break the rules of the LSU football program? I'd be willing to bet that he already has. I bet this isn't strike two at all.

Nobody's perfect. But he isn't showing any signs of learning from his past mistakes, and that worries me. Apparently, I'm not the only one it worries. Maybe he'll be back on the team this fall, and even get a chance to contribute, and redeem his tarnished image by showing some class and behaving himself throughout the rest of his career. I don't know. But there is absolutely no evidence to make anyone think that he will, and there is evidence to make people think that he won't. I just call it like I see it.

I think it was Atreus who put it best in an earlier post...although I'm too tired to go back and check...when he asked if someone would be OK with this if it were their son. I know I wouldn't. Does that make me a bad parent? I wouldn't throw my son under the bus, but I wouldn't tolerate the kind of behavior that RP has shown. There would be punishment. If Miles didn't drop the hammer after this, I would think less of him as a coach. We're starting to look like Thug U here lately. He has to do whatever it takes to get a handle on the discipline problems. What would we think if this was happening to F$U? Miami? BAMA?!!!

The same guy that's quoted as saying that is also quoted as saying that this incident is the "catalyst for the suspension, but not the only reason". Could be that the earlier incident comes into play...or other things that we don't know about.

You sound like Pacman Jones' attorney. Pacman's never been charged with anything either. He's always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The act of using an ID (as many have mentioned) is not that big of a deal in my opinion. To me, the ultimate issue is the lack of judgement, as well as the fact RP seems to be displaying the 'I'm RP bitch!' mentality. At 20 I had never been part of a federal investigation, and if I had, I think my goal would be a squeaky clean image going forward.

I have 2 concerns about this issue....

First, living in ATL I am sick in tired of hearing about Vick. Vick's problem in my eyes, is who he surrounds himself with - not the actual situations he gets himself into. Vick obviously has some folks in his circle that ultimately hurt his name. RP's 'circle' was at least an issue with the federal investigation. Vick also seems to display the attitude that he is Michael Vick and he can do no wrong, 'People love me', 'I am the face of a franchise and the face of the whole freakin league.' To me, RP seems to have the same attitude, at least the early stages of that 10 foot tall and bulletproof mentality.

Secondly, does anyone have a problem with the fact that he was trying to get into a casino??!! Many have mentioned that they used IDs to get into bars (guilty here as well) but with the ever present NCAA eye (not to mention a past federal investigation involving counterfeit money?!?!) do you really want the assumed 2008 leader of your LSU Tigers gambling, especially when he is not old enough? So if he is 21, does that mean you don't have a problem with him gambling on off days?

Just my $0.02, I hate to see him suspended given his position on the team, but how many chances can you give a kid to damage the program as a whole.

Legal, not legal, suspension, or maybe give him a team award.......whatever.

One out of a hundred shot that there could be a problem with RP. Heck, he is only trying to be a QB for one of the nation's top team, nobody would ever try to influence him..... . If Joe Blow is involved with a book, very little chance it would ever impact a game, could you say the same about RP? It really bothers me that these latest issues both involve a casino.

Others have a stake in the team and RP, many others....., if RP wants his actions to be anonymous, then he should disassociate himself with the program. Otherwise, man up and show some responsibility.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=1800430

The study also showed 1.1 percent of football players reported taking money for playing poorly in games. While 2.3 percent of football players admitted they were asked to influence the outcome of games because of gambling debts, 1.4 percent acknowledged altering their performance to change the outcome.

That's a very good point. To me that immediately raises a red flag as he seems to have a liking or weakness to the gambling scene. That doesn't go well with sports, IMO. Together with his pattern of actions that points to character flaw, would or can the team ever trust him with leading the team???

I have no problem with the punishment he's received. I applaud Les Miles for acting swiftly. Hell, they even used a tactic from the Michael Scott School of Public Relations: "Alert the media and you control the story; wait for them to find out and the story controls you. That's what happened to OJ." :hihi:

But in all seriousness, I think we need to wait until more info comes out, IF it even does. He wasn't even taken into custody, folks. He got busted for using a fake ID, which is not that big of a deal, nor is it uncommon. I don't buy that "he's had a federal investigation hanging over his head". He was not being investigated, only questioned. But again, let's just not throw this kid under the bus and say things like "he's got major character flaws" or "there is no way he can be a leader if he acts like this". Kevin Faulk and Chase Pittman got arrested for fighting in bars. They seemed to turn out fine as leaders. RP got busted for using a fake ID. Yes, he needs to shape up, as more behavior like this will seriously hurt him. But I have a serious problem with all of you who seem to think that this "incident" on Saturday is such a horrible and detrimental thing to this team.

And to answer somebody's question about this happening at another school: again, I would still think the same thing. It's not like he robbed someone or assaulted someone.

In many states using a fake ID is a felony. I'm guessing that's not the case in Louisiana? Don't get caught using one in Florida. I know someone who got in a good bit of trouble for trying to buy beer from a conveince store in Destin.

Man, lots of varying opinions about this. I just wonder how many fans want to overlook RP's troubles b/c it may damper our hopes of a MNC run. That would be a poor excuse to say this is no big deal.

I don't know all the facts of this latest incident or the FBI investigation, but it does seem like trouble follows this kid. Not too mention all his ego talk when he signed with LSU.

Here's a question. Kyle Anderson was kicked off the team for a simple bar fight, something many college students have done. Was that a wrong decision by Miles?

Lastly, Miles knows much more about this than any of us. I love his hardline discipline approach. Too many of today's athletes are spolied brats and need some discipline. Not saying RP should be dismissed or anything, but someone needs to shake him of this trouble that seems to follow him around.
