That's the kind of love I like to see from a Tiger fan!! Thank you very much. I am really enjoying this site so far. Maybe too much to read? lol :tigereye:
I, personally, am jacked about RP. I was hoping he would start for us this season (good thing Miles knew better than I). From what I saw of RP during his playing time this season, I was amazed multiple times (and I, personally, was never amazed by the ability of #1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell when he was our QB -- I just had an appreciation of his arm strength). Unlike Russell, who never got a single vote for the Heisman (which didn't surprise me), I'll honestly be let down if RP doesn't get votes for the Heisman -- in other words, I am at the point where I am certain that RP will get votes for the Heisman. That's how amazing he is to me. Also, speaking of "true leader," RP was the MVP of the SEC Championship Game this year. That's kind of a big deal.
I am unsure on Ryan and how he will handle moving to starting QB and if he can keep the off the field things positive and become a leader. More than Talent which he has; he is going to need leadership more than talent. Playing QB in the SEC you have to have guts and be able to play well under extreme pressure. We saw this year the difference between winning and losing is 1 play in alot of games. This off season he will need to grow up and become a man. It is different being number 2 and coming in versus being number 1 and feeling the pressure to perform and win. With all your teammates counting on you. I hope he dedicates himself this spring and summer to learn to be a complete QB and not just a player with alot of talent. If he can take that talent and mold leadership and consistency into it then it will be a great ride next year.
RP will be really good, I think he sees the success of this team and he wants to build on that. He will mature, he has all the essentials to be all SEC. I think the coaches will be smart with him, bringing hiim along slowly and relying more on the run at the beginning of the season. However, by the Auburn game he should be a go with great confidence.
Winning the MVP trophy proves he has the talent to excel, but it has nothing to do with being a leader and it doesn't automatically make him a leader. Being a leader means not doing things to hurt your team and setting a good example for the younger players. He'll get an opportunity this offseason to prove he can be a leader. He must become a leader if we're going to have great success next year.
WooHoo!!!! I was wondering when the "Bench the QB" threads would start again. Just to get a head start on Everyone, I think they should start whoever is #3 on the depth chart. He's better than RP and Lee combined!!! We would never lose!!! It's our only chance for success!!!
You can bet RP will be just fine as our QB next season... You can also bet that no matter how good he does, every little mistake he makes there will be those fans calling for the next in line... it's tradition around here it seems.
I think that the SECCG is a big growing up experience for RP in terms of facing and handling pressure. That was a good start. I think he will do fine running the offense. I am guessing that last year's experience have made him more humble(not taking anything for granted), and learn to play as a team. Hope the calm demeanor of Flynn rubs off on RP:grin:
