What is ashamed is that there will be no repercussions for the way Peterless Carol handled it as well as the ABC commentators. Piss poor job all the way around.

I couldn't agree with you more TigahBait. Exactly how I felt. It made me mad to listen to that crap. I know Nick Saban wouldn't have made the comments Pete Carroll made if he were in his shoes (that his team was the national champions, making it sound as though they were the overall undisputed NC). Seems as though USC's coach is really trying to sway the pollsters their way. If so, what manipulation. But if the tables were turned and LSU beat Michigan and USC would be in the Sugar Bowl, Pete Carroll probably would be saying that LSU shouldn't be the NC.:sob:
Au Contraire How many football national championship trophies would be owned by LSU if the national championship had always been settled on the field and was not given out at the annual "beauty contest?" As far as the invincibility of the current BCS system, the BCS contract is only valid for a certain set period of time. When it expires, a new contract will have to be agreed upon. With the non BCS schools already in an uproar and the current split championship cl#sterf#ck ongoing, lots of pressure will be applied to university presidents across the country to vote for a playoff system. Each BCS screwup will bring us closer to the demise of the bowl system as it now stands and closer to a playoff system of some sort. Any progress made towards a playoff will certainly be a step in the right direction IMHO. The power of the current system lies in it's ability to fill the coffers of the winning schools with lots of cash. If university presidents can be shown a way for equal amounts of, or more, cash to be funneled into their greedy pockets, believe me, loyalty to the bowls will no longer be a consideration. My original point on this thread is simply put, "It is good that the "condoms" won the Rose Bowl because it is yet another instance where the BCS has stepped on its dick and proven itself to be merely a stepping stone to a solution for NCAA football championships and not a solution in and of itself." I don't agree. The jerks that run colleges do have their PRICE! This is all about bottom-line dollars and cents. When the outcry is loud enough, and the sponsors' dollars come in, we WILL see a playoff.
