  1. The problem is timing and $$$. The price is much higher because the AD has to go as well, you cannot let the same guy pick a third coach because the first 2 stunk it up. (Except Joe Dean) Mackovic should have been enough. AZ just finished paying off Mackovic and Tomey, now pay off an AD and Stoops. Stoops may get fired, but it is not done, they are hoping he can win one or two games left and everyone can stay happy for another year.
I do not know who you spoke with, but I am very close and KNOW this to be true.
So wait and see is true, to a point, but do not think it is done, not by a long shot. If I had to guess, Stoops wins one more game he stays. Dont forget that his little Bros is his Def. Coordinater here so he's got to protect him as well.
  2. These guys are not connected. I just work with them and they happen to live there and are fans. I was just relaying their comments from casual conversations. I dont doubt your sources but what they were saying makes sense too.

I think this Pelini rumor has some basis but until we see more info coming from the Corn side we need to ignore it. I'm not hearing the same thing from a guy in Neb who works with us and this guy would definitely have a feel for which way the wind was blowing.
  3. They're deciding on the yet-to-be-named coach's staff? Sounds like BS info or it's gonna be a big flag for any decent coach.
  4. Pellini was supposed be hired away last season. I don't think any players will be surprised if he takes a head coaching job this season.
  5. I'm kinda getting tired of our coaches being hired out to other schools after we have successful seasons. Don't these guys notice the trend of leaving success for failed programs?
I'm not sure what delusional worlds these guys live in... but why leave success now... for programs that will still suck ncaa a$$ for another 4-5 years. Say we lose Miles to UM, Pelini to UN and whoever else to where ever... we will be screwed next season.
  6. Lots of folks said the same thing when Saban eloped. But it turned out alright.
  7. Yeah it did. But I don't see a lot of good coaching candidates available if we lose our HC and DC.
  8. To be honest, if you're the defensive C at LSU and Nebraska calls offering you the head coaching job, you got to go. No 2 ways about it. If Cincinatti calls, I don't know. But Nebraska, yes.

And we won't be screwed. LSU has everything in place from facilities, assistant coaching salaries, etc to be good for a long, long time. I don't see how the days of 2-9 Hallman, DiNardo debacles could return. Could 8-3, 7-4 (I know 12 games now) yes, that could happen if the wrong hire is made. But LSU has everything in place to go and get a coach or coaches from just about anywhere.

Our admins just have to make the right decision and there are tons of good coaches who would want the LSU gig......about 2.5 million reasons. That kinda money isn't doled out everywhere.
  9. No, there's no great coaches sitting at home waiting to be called. But there's only about 10 places in the country that you have the homegrown talent in state to compete for a championship, (SEC, NC) every year. Coaches want to win championships and LSU is one of those places. And like I said, not every school pops $2.5 on the table either. Not every school pops out $400k to assistants either. The LSU football program is in good shape no matter what happens.
