imo, miles has raised the bar even more than satan on what is expected at lsu. any coach after miles is going to have to have substantional and successful hc experience. now if either pelini or crowton were to leave, get some "meaningful" hc experience and be successful at another program, then yes. but not straight from a coordinator position.
They wouldn't if Miles hypothetically left after next season. He'd still be unproven as a HC, same as when Saban left. However, if Miles left after the next three/four seasons and in the intermin Jimbo became a HC somewhere and did reasonably well...should (not would, I think they would) LSU consider him? I know a lot of LSU fans thought he was too conservative as an OC. But he had his good points as well, and as I wonder how both the good and bad would play out if he were HC given that such a position is his ultimate goal.
Les saw how Saban screwed up leaving a great deal. Stupid is as stupid does, and Les isn't stupid........
You've got to be kidding. Though Miles has surely shown much more consistency than Saban, and accomplished things in his first two years that Saban didn't, until he brings home the "Big trophies"- SEC Championship/NC Championship- the college football pundits won't let him out of what Saban accomplished during his tenure......though beating Saban this year will do a lot along the lines of questioning his "Coaching abilities". Irony is that Saban once said, "Last year's accomplishment becomes next year's expectation".
no, i am not kidding. i think miles has raised expectations for what can be accomplished right off the bat as a hc. i think subsequent coaches will be given less "settling in" time.
I've got to agree. Miles has done a nice job with a really good record and strong recruiting but he has in no way raised the bar. He needs to bring home the trophy's before that can be said about him. Furthermore, he will be dogged in the media if he doesnt bring home those trophy's and we can expect to hear the term "underachieve" associated with Miles and LSU if he doesnt win an SEC title. Although its pretty hard not to embrace 11-2 records year in and year out even without titles but ya know how it goes... *shrugs*
Sure Saban would want to come back, I mean leave Bama...$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:thumb:
Let's remember one very important thing about Coach Miles. He knew exactly what the expectations where at LSU when he excepted the job and he embraces the challenge. There is nothing he has demonstrated in lack of desire/commitment to winning his first NC at LSU. His passion is way above most coaches out there. I think much of what drives the man is his love for what LSU is and what it stands for. I also think he loves the situation he's in and is looking forward to reaching his goals with his staff and players. He gets an A+ in my book for what he has had to deal with at LSU. My prayers are for no major injuries this year or uncontrollable disasters that could affect our season.
