Pelicans to 4-2 with a 112-91 manhandling of the Clippers. Zion returns and goes for 21-12-7 in 31 minutes. CJ with 22, Marshall with 17. Hang around in LA now until Wednesday, when they close out the road trip vs the Lakers (hopefully getting Herb back). Stay focused, fellas!
wooo wooo great finish vs the lakers. lets get that laker lottery pick and get victor wenbayama. zion at the end of the game is 100% danger for opposing teams. cant guard him with one man. cant be done.
well shitfucks, i counted my chickens before they hatched. looks like OT. dangit buzzer beating 3 for OT. i say pound it to zion and end it edit: well that went about as bad as it could have!
Pels 114, Warriors 105. We're back healthy with BI and Herb returning tonight (BI had 26, I think), and our turn to face a shorthanded team, as GS was without Curry, Thompson and Green. First back-to-back of the season now, head for Atlanta tomorrow.
Pels snap a 2-game skid with a 115-111 win at Chicago. Despite a terrible shooting night from deep, 3 of 19 3's. BI and Zion came up big down the stretch, but it looks to me like they've forgotten what created their big run to end last season, and that's defense. Not much effort on that end of the floor. Schedule is grueling right now, they've got their second back-to-back in 7 days tomorrow, hosting Portland.
from an athletic article ranking nba teams: 11. New Orleans Pelicans (previously eighth) | 5-4 | +4.7 net rating Weekly slate: Loss at Lakers, Win over Warriors, Loss at Hawks Transition offense: 114.1 points per 100 possessions (11th) | 15.4 percent of possessions (tied-20th) Transition defense: 108.5 points per 100 possessions (16th) | 18.3 percent of possessions (24th) The effect: The Pelicans have had Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson in and out of the lineup so far, so I’m not taking away too much from their offensive numbers in transition. They’re still good, and a down game against Atlanta took them out of the top 10 for scoring efficiency. I’m more surprised the Pelicans aren’t running more often. Williamson is still trying to find his rhythm, but it feels like they’re not running those go routes we saw under Stan Van Gundy to get Williamson out in transition more. He’s only in transition about 13.5 percent of his possessions. That should probably double. And CJ McCollum has to improve in transition. It’s very early, but he’s just missing shots left and right
Big win for the Pels over the Grizzlies tonight, 113-102. No Zion (foot contusion, day to day), but CJ finally finds his shot and goes for 30. Huge contributions off the bench from Nance (20), Alvarado (12 pts, 6 ast) and Dyson Daniels (9 rebounds). Pels now 8-6, Bulls come in tomorrow night.
