you cannot determine if it should be ignored or not without asking the questions i mentioned.

this is a political forum. politics is basically about managing resources and priorities. the question of how to manage global warming is a political one, not a scientific one. that means you have to actually consider the politics of how to allocate resources. and that means you have to determine what problems are most relevant. that means you have to actually speak to how harsh of a thing global warming is relative to other concerns.

The atmosphere is NOT infinite, do you understand what infinite means? The emissions are NOT microscopic either--Carbon Dioxide alone amounts to 27 Million metric tons annually. You have a basic problem with scale.

It's provable, amigo. Laughing it off is . . . well, laughable.

    Clearly.

Is there a profit making business model for anyone trying to prove GW or is it funded by governments with an agenda? That would seem to be proof, no?

You can't razz me with a Limprod comparison. I despise him, Shame Hannity and Man Coulter as much or more than the Great Leader El Douche (GLED) nick for Obama(PBUH).

The above mentioned trio are nothing but water boys for the fascist corporatist entities in this country.

Red, I would much rather you be a pinko professor than a flotsam moderate. Pinkos are more fun to have a drink and shoot the bull with. I don't mean anything to be personal, I don't take it that way.

There is not a doubt that you are a learned man and so many of the uber liberals are just as, if not more learned as you.

With all of this education and with the benefit of history for a perspective, why do you trust government so? Government can only exist at the expense of liberty and it is a delicate balancing act to keep government in check while maximizing liberty. The teeter totter has an 800 lb government gorilla and a ghost of liberty riding it at the moment.

You have offered no proof of this. Just speculation.

You love stereotypes apparently, but you know damn little about me or about climatology. Damn little.

Who says I do? I'm here defending the science behind global warming and all you've got are political complaints to offer.

Preposterous! Another Grand XXL truth? Have you ever actually read the Constitution of the United States of America? How long have you been an anarchist?

    Lack of knowledge of...

My connection and your lack of connection with Earth have little relevance to the discussion. I do not simply accept whatever Al Gore presents in a movie or George Bush refuted at the podium.

The ecosystem on Earth is what I was referring to. Of course there will be a skeleton long after life is drained from our celestial body.

What I have seen in school is troubling, so I am open to the possibility that there might be a problem. I know that pollution, in general, is not good.

Erm, those with cancer or without?

I've been meaning to have some Popeyes for a while.

not without being illogical. this is a political issue, not a science one.

there is reason we are not here arguing about space-time or some other purely scientific issue. global warming is about politics, priorities. to call for action on global warming is to say that it is more important than the rest of the issues you are not addressing.

we need to understand the real dangers, the real costs. and i dunno if we really are paying attention to that stuff. we are just kinda sitting around feeling bad because the earth is being "poisoned" and not realizing what a ludicrous statement that is.

if it takes X amount of money to stop Y amount of global warming, and that saves Z amount of people, it still isnt good decision if we could have spent .5x the same money and saved 10Z the people. but we cheerfully ignore the real politics of this, substituting emotional nonsense and false peity.

Not to me. Politicize it if you will, but I won't be arguing for any of the politics of it all . . . only for the validity of the science. You can call Al Gore to debate you on the suffering of the poor babies.

pollution that supplies jobs and prosperity and happiness is great.

larry summers, the guy who works for obama doing loony economic policy, once said:

"I've always thought that under-populated countries in Africa are vastly underpolluted"

and what he means is that the cost of economic progress are worth it. modernizing creates pollution. but it also increases the standard of living. being first world rich folks, we do not understand this.
