while that would be wonderful and reasonable, we could sit around and give it a reasoned and pragmatic analysis, it would be a waste of time and money. carbon taxes will not work.

if they work for the same company, who knows? the whole thing would be a disaster, probably managed by corrupt idiots.

and the whole point is that polluting industries would pay the taxes, so we can at least accept that premise. if you work for polluting industry you will be hit hard.

good deal i can manage it better than you anyways.

to me you appear to be a big government extremist. perhaps that is because what is extreme is totally subjective and not based on any real rational reasoning. avoiding what is perceived to be extreme does not make a consistent philosophy. it makes for a mish-mosh of faux moderate nonsense, perfectly illustrated by your non-position on how to solve global warming.

Yes, I can see why you won't debate the details. i don't blame you.

That's the idea, obviously, to incentivize companies to be greener. But a dollar-for-dollar swap (Al Gore quote!) with payroll taxes means no increase for them or for their employees.

Another straw man. Show me one post where I have advocated big government. You can't. You just keep assuming that any suggestions to do anything significant invokes "big government".

What I advocate is adequate government. No bigger or smaller than is neccessary. When I talk about a worldwide issue like global warming and I say "we should" do something, I'm talking about the human race. It is you who mentally twists this into me saying "big government must" do something.

The human species. Governments, industries, organizations, individuals . . . everyone.

if we did "debate" the gore carbon tax, which side would you take? you are neither for or against it, remember?

interesting. are you for this carbon tax?

interesting. are you for the carbon tax? no answer?

does that include the carbon tax? no answer?

pay attention to this next part, i am about to explain why you are a lunatic.

your vague declarations are like saying the solution to crime is "humans should stop being criminals" it means nothing. you cant just say things and they become true. you have to actually favor policy.

That's right. That's a side. Go get Al Gore and we'll make it a three-sided debate. But you don't really want to debate it do you? You can't. You just want to make snide comments.

I don't know enough about it, I'm just reminding you of what Gore said on the clip that you posted.

i just answered. Stop asking me questions and then answering them yourself! It's a childish debate tactic and I'm tired of it.

Endlessly repeating yourself is another one. You've got nothing to add to the topic anymore.

Now you are making absurd Calvinball rules that have nothing whatsoever to do with my lunacy, but surely say a lot about your . . . intellect. :hihi:

Look, Junior, I can favor or not favor anything that I damn well please and I do not have to follow the mad decrees of martinworld. Nobody does.

You are standing alone in the pasture waving a flag that says, "I'M A GODDAMN FOOL AND SO AM I."

to be clear, you are calling me out for not debating a topic with you, while you claim to have not only have no position on the topic, you also:

well you sound well qualified to debate it then.

i am trying to goad you into taking a position yourself. but you refuse or claim ignorance, like above.

i wish that were true. you refuse to admit to favoring or opposing anything.

i think readers of this thread have been adequately shown how a moderate for the sake of moderate position is flawed. sometimes you get stuck in a position where you fear both sides such that you are stuck in the middle, standing for nothing.

I have a position--you simply will not recognize it. I can debate on the facts--but you simply don't recognize any.

Wrong. You are trying goad me into taking a position that you want me to take instead of my own. Once again . . . endlessly.

Endless repeating yourself . . . All I'm doing now is pulling your strings, just to see how inane you can get trying to salvage your sad argument.

There is no one else reading this thread by now. Your inability to understand that there are valid and sound positions between the extremes is not the topic and . . . not . . . my . . . problem.

You have no idea what I think. You pay no attention to my clear explanations. Yet you keep telling me what I think.

    How fugging stupid is that?

Come up with some evidence that global warming is false or be ignored.
