Not a fan of Stephen A. Smith, but he just made a great point. Where's the NCAA during all of this? Look at the athletes who have been vilified and given the nth degree probe in the past few years over far less serious transgressions.....Reggie Bush. Terrell Pryor. How can you even begin to compare what they did to this?

    Oh Hokus Pokus Amigo.

If one day sabanfan finally has enough and he rolls into your office and beats the tar out of you, you gonna call the chancellor or you gonna call the cops?

Bottom line is we don't want to be believe the old man was "involved" in this. There is no way he didn't "know" what was going on and that is enough. I don't care if it was Vince phucking Lombardi, you find out stuff like that you don't let him anywhere near your football program ever again!

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno
has decided to retire at end of the
season, his son, Scott, told the
    Harrisburg Patriot-News Wednesday
    morning.

I agree with you, but Reggie and Terrell were guilty of NCAA violations. Paterno, McQueary, and the rest of them were guilty of moral violations.

I'm going to call Alphonse to dispose of the body. He'll be crab crap within a week.

I'm not defending Paterno, just pointing out that universities have strict privacy rules and a heirachal administration that may explain why two upper administrators are facing perjury charges and Paterno is not.

I had forgotten from his playing days, that McQueary's family was from State College. He quarterbacked at State College high school. The article today on grantland.com reminded me of this. The Sandusky's, Paterno's, and McQueary's were all townies. Their kids all grew up and went to school together.

Retiring at the end of the year is awful. I would have thought that Joe would have shone up at work today and been given a box to clean his desk out with. Then I remembered State Penn is so disgusted with what has gone on that they will pay for legal fees of the parties facing charges.

    Agreed.

That's pathetic that the university would allow ANY of those involved in this so much as an extra second affiliated with the university.

For him to resign at the END of the season, on his OWN terms, is like saying, "We're sorry....just not THAT sorry".

It's a slap in the face to all of those victims affected by this!

As a lifelong PSU fan, I agree with you. He should step down now. Hell, he was planning on retiring after the season was over anyway.
It's only Wednesday. I wouldn't be surprised if things change between now and kickoff on Saturday.
