So...,you think obama's little speech was different how? There was plenty of substance in her speech. It was just the type of substance you don't like to hear. You're in a group by yourself then. So far, even the most hard line lefties have said it was a very powerful speech, delivered brilliantly.
Thats funny, I don't remember the messiah dealing with specific issues either. I can't believe you said something nice about a republican. What qualifies the messiah to be president? You would think the arrogance of him having a presidential seal before being elected would turn off some people. You know you've lost this issue. Next time we might not be as lucky. Remember Obama was on that committee to oversea activites in that part of the world and did what he always has done, nothing. What is the truth here? How in the hell is 5% of the population going to pay most of the taxes in this country, better start cutting programs like social security, medicare and defense. All we have to show here is that Obama is book smart. No one knows his judgment because there is very track record. Also Obama has shown he has poor judgement when selecting friends and church. Bush isn't running. I will be very happy when Bush and Cheney are gone, no argument here. But I will say that everything you are talking about here, no substance was the same thing with Obama's speech. I wonder what you had to say about that? I won't argue with this but I also think the dems have been a disaster, claimiing the war was lost and the surge wouldn't work. The dems are totally irrelevant also, they said the war was lost. The surge didn't work, did it? I'm not surprised. I'd like to know where you, Mastermind, Gumborue and Red stand. Its easy to say all those things but its a mystery not knowing which side of the aisle one stands. I'm sure you guys don't mind $20 a gallon gasoline in the near future. I'll take a guess and say you guys probably never saw a republican you really like.
obama went much more into specifics of what his admin would do. He attacked McCain on issues, not personality. Repubs want to turn it into "executive experience" race. It really is always about intelligence and judgment. What executive experience did Truman, Kennedy, Nixon, Ford, have? None. Some good, some bad. What executive experience did Ike, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II have? All governors. Some good, some bad. It's not about exec experience. All experience is good, combined with intelligence and judgment.
Your guy has absolutely no experience. It could be argued that I have more qualifying experience to be President of the United States than obama does. He brings nothing to the table except his "magnetic" personality. His personality will not help me sleep better at night...As a matter of fact, an obama presidency will cause me to lose a great deal of sleep. Obama is a socialist. Obama hates us God fearing, gun toting, types. Obama will not place his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is playing. The hardest decision obama has ever had to make is which suit to wear in the morning and whose ass is most valuable to kiss to promote his political career.
I gotta get ready to go out of town Sat. AM, gotta shut down and pack. Going to Calgary area for a week. But, you can't "win" a war that was fought on false assumptions. You can subdue your opponent. But if it costs you more than the benefit you derive, you lost the war. We lost this war the day we invaded Iraq. As far the surge working, I think Petraeus strategy of winning over the Sunnis had a much bigger impact on stabilizing the situation than the surge. Bush persisted with failed commanders for years, costing way too many lives. The surge helped secure some areas. What will happen when the US leaves, regardless how long we stay? Sunni and Shia have fought since 600 AD, over whether Imams must be descended from Muhammed. Anybody think the surge fixed this? Not me. If I was those guys, I'd be quiet so the US could leave, then go about my business. I don't trust that what we see on the surface will stay that way.
I gotta say I'm real excited about Sarah Palin. I find it interesting that those that oppose her won't mention that they like the fact that she took on the republican establishment and was able to make changes and reform. She then was able to re-negotiate a business deal. Thats real change. You have to wonder if Barrack Obama or Joe Biden would ever do such a thing? I think not, they seem to be for the status quo. The left talks about Bush and yet the Democrat congress has the lowest approval rating in history. The do nothing congress, Ken Salazar, democrat from Colorado wouldn't bring up a vote to drill for oil, even if it was $10 a gallon. I guess those voting for Obama must be rich.
Biden delivered something substantive? His only economic comment was "Barack Obama will transform our economy by making alternative energy a genuine national priority, creating 5 million new jobs and finally freeing us from the grip of foreign oil." How is he going to transform our economy? Is he really The One? It's a talking point and pure rhetoric with exactly no substance of HOW HE WILL DO THAT. It shows character. Where is the character of the dem vp candidate? He got an F in college for plagiarism, and dropped out of the '88 race because of plagiarism yet again. Kind of speaks to character doesn't it? And Obama picked this guy when he could have had anyone. The American people rejected him twice - handily. Palin has yet to stand before the people and be judged. Since Obama has so little experience, it is a window to how he might act as president. He failed. You overlook a foreign policy gaff as if he used the dinner fork for his salad. It is a big deal because we have very little record of Obama in this situation. This is a dem talking point. Obama will raise taxes and it will be passed on to middle class Americans, not just "the rich". That is laughable class warfare, and the dems will never let go of it. If you like Obama it's ok, but you can't disguise that he will raise our taxes, anymore than McCain can hide that he will keep the tax cuts. Of course you have made up your mind( I have not actually), but why shouldn't the repubs make an issue out of "executive experience"? The dems already diminished her to merely being a mayor of a town of 7000. I would say they opened themselves up to discussing experience. Obama's only retort is that he has run a presidential campaign?? Are you kidding me?? Are you the only person on the planet that expected her to talk about this in the RNC convention speech that introduced her? It's not the repubs job to make themselves look bad. Party speeches usually don't work that way. It's not her job to outline McCain's foreign policy. It's McCain's job. That's funny. I flipped back and forth between CNN and MSNBC, and did not hear any of the reporters do anything but praise her and admit it was a good speech. Dems working for Obama obviously didn't, but why would anyone expect that from partisans? I thought Biden gave a good speech(though he is full of crap), and I thought Bill gave a phenomenal speech(though I dislike him greatly). You can't even admit when you hear a good speech, just because you disagree with the message.
Saying "change" over and over again does not count. They all say we want a better economy, blah blah blah. Im still waiting to see specifics from each side. On a somewhat unrelated note I still find it humorous that they attack the rich. They say we should focus on the working class. I guess I am just dumb for thinking that the people that became rich didn't work their asses to off to get that way. I am also sure they aren't the ones that put money back into the economy.... The dyke on CNN tonight said the (R) are going back to their old ways with class warfare, and IMMEDIATELY talks about the middle class in an unrelated topic. What an ignorant hooker...
I thought Palin's speech was pretty strong. In the biggest speech of her political career she did very well. I'm looking forward to watching the debates, I think Palin will be able to handle Biden well. I'm still leaning to Obama, but I like the choice of Palin as VP. On the other hand, I thank God Ghouliani isn't still in the running. His speech before Palin appealed to the worst in people and the Republican audience was eating it up. Sickening. I prefer McCain over Ghouliani, by far. What a PoS.
y'all are taking this convention stuff too seriously. this is just for the party. it shouldnt really even be on tv because its all such ra-ra fluff. with that backdrop, she did well. i hate all these speeches that treat you like an idiot, but her speech is going to pump up the GOP fundraisers. it isnt directly going to get one vote. i do think obama's was better because he atleast offered an olive branch to the other side. palin was just cuttin throats. although i guess her speech should be compared to biden's. we'll see what mccain does. im sure it wont be so vitriolic (if it is, its a big mistake). obama's speech did have a lot of specifics, btw. here's hoping mccain's does too so the country can make a rational decision.
