Its not a statistic sample. The respondents were largely of one demographic, and there is no telling how many times the respondents voted.
The border is still wide open. Recent CIA reports Al Queda is more organized and operating in more locations than it was pre-9/11. The Iraqi quagmire has caused tension between us and several of our key allies. Airport security still sucks. I would not say we are less safe, but I could neither say we are safer.
Right, I wouldn't say the country is completely safe, but let's be honest, that will never be the case. Somebody is always going to want to take us down. But given the fact that we haven't been attacked since 9/11 (and I mean a full blown attack where people are killed), I'd say the country isn't any less safe than it was on that day. Point to any evidence to the contrary. Maybe I've been hiding under a rock and missed a big terrorist attack on American soil. Personally, I feel pretty safe at this point, because I think they are more interested in attacking our interests overseas than over here. Hell, bin Laden even said after 9/11 that that was his plan.
This is true. Plus we have other enemies besides Al Qaida out there, China and Russia being the most dangerous. Yes, security is better and there is no rampant terror at home. We will be hit again at some point, though. If I were SabanFan flying onto an NYC airport every couple of weeks, I might be a bit concerned, but most of us don't have to be worried about this issue. The worst terror attack they ever pulled, didn't come close to ruining our economy, morale, readiness, government, or trade. It just pissed us off. They can piss us off again, but they cannot defeat us with these tactics. They can't even influence us with them, 9/11 was a tactical victory for Al Qaida, but strategically it had unexpectedly bad blowback. The US did not reel back in terror, but instead pulled together and took down Taliban Afghanistan within months, leaving them without their bases. We cut off their funding sources internationally and have their leaders living in caves. Exactly. Meanwhile our misguided occupation of Iraq has provided him with thousands of US targets that are easy to get at. What a Christmas present for bin Ladin!
Were they killed in a terrorist attack on American soil? No, they were killed in combat. Two completely different things if you ask me. It's war. It happens, unfortunately. And before you say, "Well this is a needless occupation and such and such", I guarantee you that the majority of those 3,500+ heroes knew exactly what they were getting into.
It's war... Yah right. War is when another country has a military. I'm tired of this govt. pinning everything as a war.. War on Terror, War on Drugs, blah blah blah. Americans are being killed.
It's a war. Albeit, an "unconventional" war, but a war nonetheless. If you look to Carl von Clausewitz, who is considered as one of the most important military strategists, you'll see that he never makes any mention of an organized military when talking about war. Go ahead and Google "On War" and take a gander if you'd like. People are killed in war, it's a fact of life. And given the fact that our recruiting numbers are rather high during this "unpopular" war, it tells me that there are still many Americans willing to make that sacrifice. It's people like them that keep our country and our military strong, if you ask me. Tired of the War on Terror and the War on Drugs? Then move to Switzerland and you won't have to worry about any of that. I hear the skiing is fantastic this time of year. :thumb:
