/9 Rex ,I seriously doubt the average American could point out the states of Connecticutt,Nebraska ,and Montana from a blank map of the United States .And from a world map Isreal ,Argentina and Ireland...They might not get the right continent each is on,so this poll is supposed to prove ? One thing is certain...we haven't had one single terrorist attack here since 9/11 because it is kind of hard to plan and carry out an attack over here when you are running for your A$$ over there.
Wrong. The anthrax mail attacks were after 9/11 and the latter ones were even after the fall of the Taliban.
So how scientific is that poll? It looks to me like its from Facebook, which would indicate it means nothing. Considering we haven't been attacked (anthrax attempts aside), how is America less safe?
Good security men would have never let her use the moonroof. What friggin' use in the world is an armored vehicle with a moonroof! In this case, we may. There is an old enmity between India and Pakistan and a series of shooting wars have been fought with the issues never completely settled. When India went nuclear, it was inevitable that Pakistan would. During the Cold War, the Soviets backed India and the US backed Pakistan. We didn't want the conflict to go nuclear, but when it did, balance demanded that Pakistan also go nuclear, so yes -- we let it happen. Over the past six years, the Bush administration has spent almost $100 million on a highly classified program to help Musharraf secure his country’s nuclear weapons. U.S. Secretly Aids Pakistan in Guarding Nuclear Arms We do have old friends in Pakistan. I suspect US intelligence has a very good idea of the Pakistani nuclear weapons. How many, how big, how reliable, and where they are. Certainly their very limited delivery systems are known well and targeted. It is important to remember that despite the rhetoric of Al Qaida and the Taliban, the US is not Pakistan's worst enemy nor its greatest threat. India is on their border, there is disputed territory, India has nukes. Pakistan isn't using those weapons for anything except for deterrence/retaliation in a cold war with India. It is highly unlikely that Pakistan would give terrorists an expensive and complex weapon with their return address on it to use against the US. It would be national suicide. They did see what happened to the Talban after 9/11. It is also important to remember that the Islamist radicals from Saudi Arabia and Egypt that dominate Al Qaida are Arabs, obsessed with Israel and the US. Pakistanis are not Arabs. They are seriously islamic, but ethnically the mountain Paks are Afghans and the lowland Paks are Indians, and they hate each other, of course. The US and Israel will always have to get in line behind India as loathed enemies and just ahead the other Pakistanis that they hate. The worst scenario is that the Pakistani government could become so radical that some general rashly uses a weapon against an ally or a US base in the region.
Great, all we need is for that place to come apart at the seems, then some "Aholes" gonna have a pocket full of nukes...wonderful. Out of all the countries that have em, I figured Pak and India would be the ones to start tossin them at one another.
You can get several of those and their directly related to what side of the political fence you're on as to how good it looks one way or the other. The truth (as always) probably lies somewhere in the middle. Plus you have "no" Idea how the polling questions were asked and in what area. My guess is if you started polling folks in the deep South, you'll get a far different answer than say LA or New York.
I wouldn't take the opinions of high schoolers and college students as all that informed, but that's just me. They are highly impressionable and will, for the most part, believe what their professors tell them to believe, which is usually biased towards the left. I say this because it is EXACTLY what happened when I was in college when the war started. I'm not saying their opinions don't matter, but a lot of them will go with the status quo as opposed to forming opinions of their own because that's the cool thing to do. Please explain to me why America is no safer now than it was before.
