It'd sure be easier if your nephew was a Penn State fan.

Just get online and buy a replica helmet. Might cost you $100. ...probably worth it for efforts alone. :thumb:

Yeah but I heard that you have to paint these colors on at the right time in any given month.

I dont think its worth the trouble. It probably would not come out looking right. You can get them on ebay for around $100 bucks.

All you people that are saying to just go buy one, its the effort and love that this kid will remember years to come. This is how traditions are started. We have forgotten this in our fast paced easier to spend money then put time into it.

Any yahoo can buy a helmet off of a website or off a store shelf this is something magically. As magically as Saturday Nights in Death Valley.

Whatever it takes to get it done I wish you well, and I hope it comes out to your liking but remember just because you do it will make it perfect in his eyes.

Are you're saying those colors will always come up red?

wow...didn't know i'd gotten all these replys...didn't get an email on em...

Anyways, I'm really just doing it to try to get one that's done right! Most of the replicas are just a regular gold helmet with lsu decals on them, besides they don't make most in kid's sizes. I made one out of a gold football helmet i picked up on closeout last year for one of my younger cousins and it looks awesome, just not the right color. I figured i'd put a little more effort into this one and try to get it exactly right. I'll take some pictures of the other one if i get a chance. I've got a little swatch that's the right color. I think I'm going to take it to home depot or a paint store this weekend and try to get it matched. Thanks for the help guys....By the way, I picked up both helmets on the internet for about $25 on closeout so even after buying everything for them I won't be close to $100.

These are helmets made for the kids to wear and play in...not sit up on the shelf. I figure they look better once they've got a few scuffs on em anyway.

And you're right...if the thing's purple and gold the kid will love it, it doesn't matter if it's got all the decals on it or not. I guess I just take pride in making it look as real as possible.
