Is he overrated because some think he can replace JR? Well, he did replace JR, and the Tigers demolished Miami. Why not hold him to a higher standard? 1. There are no negative stats because he hasn't played a down yet. 2. Can't question his physical ability. 3. Can't question his mental toughness. He only survived a life threatening gunshot through his chest and an ACL tear to become national player of the year. As far as I'm concerned, this kid is top-shelf until he proves otherwise.
I said Matt Flynn based on the expectation that he would come in and do a better job then JR (which is what some people think). He had one hell of a game and that's it. And there were other factors besides MF as far as the strong offensive showing for the Miami win. He might be a better QB then JR but one game proves nothing.
Every QB on the team. Read what people are posting. Some people think JR is the greatest thing to happen to LSU. Sorry, he's good but he has flaws that he need to fix before they cost us a game. Some think Flynn is the next Matt Mauck. Sorr, but we need to see a little more of him before jumping him that high. Lots of people think RP should be #2 on the depth chart. Based on what? High school rep? Chris Rix was highly regarded coming out of high school, at least let the guy take a meaningful snap before electing him to the LSU hall of fame.
Actually, I have not seen him too much in the past year and a half. Maybe drinking was his secret... (like Peter's on Family Guy when he had to play the piano.)
I totally agree and in fact I got into a few debates with others during the 04' season. I hope he can prove us wrong this year, but from what I've witnessed, he was the product of a great O-line in 03'.
I'm gonna have to call BS here. If the JV was nothing more than the product of a dominant Oline, then the stats for the other backs would have been outstanding as well. So are they? Nope. Take a look. As you can see Vincent was getting about 2 yards per carry more than Addai, Broussard, and Carey. 2 YPC is a HUGE differnence. The guy was special and possibly still can be.
